If that sheet is accurate then the gross budget might include both production and advertising. That might mean that the movie won't show a profit until home video and download sales are factored in. It will make a profit eventually though.

This weekend I got a advanced preview of what I believe is the season finale (part one) of the tv series. I thought the plot was better than the movie. Which caused me to wonder, why didn't they use it for the movie instead? Hmm....

More than likely, the plot for the season finale was likely planned last year, whereas it took three years from the announcement of the film to the actual release for the movie to be made.

Well, put simply, the season finale was written specifically with the mindset that everyone watching it knows exactly how the show and its lore works. Pretty dang difficult to convey something like that to a wide release audience.

That soon? I figured it would at least go into mid January at the least.

I honestly can't tell if this is a worrying sign or not.

It's a fairly standard release schedule anymore, a three or four month gap. An example from a Hollywood film: "Wonder Woman" was in theaters in June and released on Blu-ray/DVD in September.

My question on the MLP release is, will there be a digital HD version included in the physical version? I assume so, since the last two Equestria Girls movies did.

Due to its box office performance, I’m not surprised. The film will probably do better their anyway.
