Yes. Though keep in mind that I consider Carol Danvers the “classic Captain Marvel.”

Well, another reason to not trust Wacker...

The comic sales are irrelevant to Marvel. They're looking at a bigger slice of the pie with the movie in the works, which is why they continue to push her.

It's the same reason the Guardians suddenly got pulled out of limbo (where they'd been since their book got cancelled) right around the time they got a movie deal. Comic sales are small peanuts to Marvel at this point.

Makes you wonder how important Marvel sees the cartoons, in the grand scheme of things...

Well they are a vehicle for selling toys, so I'm sure that helps...:p

Aren't AA toys selling like hotcakes potatoes? I keep hearing this show is a marketing success but I've never seen it confirmed.

I've never been privy to toy sales unless it's cited as a reason for cancellation, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised to hear that AA or USM sell well merchandise-wise, though I wonder kids could tell the difference between AA toys and movie toys ?

Now that I think about it, does Guardians (the cartoon) actually have any toys o_O?

Oh yes it does. I haven't seen any in person (not that I'm looking for any though), but they do exist.

Toy sales aside, Marvel sees the cartoon series as a way of reinforcing the brand affinity and awareness between movies, which take a long time to make.

Any idea about when the new season is going to start? Honestly, I'm sick of waiting!! I want to see this more than more new episodes of "Guardians of the Galaxy".

I imagine we're going to get the debut of Marvel's Spider-Man first, and then once Guardians season 2 runs it's course it'll get replaced by Secret Wars :).

I'm sure we'll find something out between now and and July at SDCC and I doubt it'll replace Guardians season 2 because that season may not be over until next year and Secret Wars is set to appear in 2017. I believe Secret Wars will air around the same time as the new Spider-Man along with new episodes of Guardians season 2 like they've done before when they showed Ultron Revolution, Ultimate Spider-Man and Guardians season 1.

Checking the calendar on the Disney ABC Press website, Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars will premiere on Saturday June 17th with a two-part story called "Avengers No More".

I guess we'll get some more details in the next couple of weeks.

I guess that follows what we've heard about this season so far, that something happens to the main Avengers that necessitates the new team forming up :ack:.

Though "Avengers No More" kind of implies the team retires rather then just straight up vanishes, though that might be because I'm associating it with the classic "Spider-Man No More" story. I guess it could also illustrate that the main team no longer exists, and they've already used "Avengers Dissasembled" as a title .

It does kind of feel like old hat at this point, being maybe the 3rd or 4th time on this show that we've seen the Avengers either disbanded or gone, but I guess they needed to find some way of taking the main team off the board in a way so that the New Avengers could take over .

Rinse, repeat, rinse again, and repeat again. It's the Loeb/Quesada/Wacker run Marvel Animation way.

Finally!!! I'm just glad we don't have to wait all the way until July to hear something. I'm just ready to see more Vision and Captain Marvel.
