At the end, it is, as usual, all about making as much profit as possible when it isn't needed.

Why create a female Thor, for example, when you're going to cast her aside after a few months?

Today's writers haven't been properly schooled in comics history, and if that sounds familiar, well, all you need do is understand the poor creative process in WWE, stifled by its senile chairman, and see that Marble is doing the exact same thing. This is why I resorted to using Santayana in an earlier post.

One of my high school teachers often lamented that "stupidity runs rampant". That's certainly true now.

They're integrating the Ultimate universe likely because the Ultimate comics have had an influence on the MCU, and as someone else mentioned Miles Morales is pretty much the only profitable part left of that franchise.

They'll likely attempt a streamlined continuity closer to that of the movies and it will have little touches like there only being one Nick Fury again but now he's a black guy who looks like Samuel L. Jackson.

There is a trap that many storytellers fall into when they do similar things.

A character, in a story, is partly defined by those characters around said character. For Batman, he is mostly defined by his rogues gallery and his family. For Miles, he is defined by his friends, including the second Ultimates team. Take all that away, with only Miles there, and the the storyteller runs into problems.

This is looking more and more like New 52. Which wasn't that great. Half of the series that launched with the New 52 didn't make it passed six issues. And the next batch of series didn't fair well either. This is because DC was retelling all the same introduction stories, in only slightly different ways, for over a year. And the readers go tired of it, and it hurt sales, in the long run.

The only exceptions were Batman, with Night of the Owls, storyarc. Which in truth was the final part of a trilogy of a storyarc. And the Green Lantern issues, mainly because the Green Lantern history was left mostly untouched.

If Marvel does it like DC New 52, with them spending most of the next year doing reintroductions. It is going to hurt their readership base, and their sales further, from dumping all of storyline and character development beforehand.

And speaking of character development. I have no clue how they plan to handle a few of their more popular characters that have radically changed over the years. Top among this list is Deadpool.

Deadpool is one of the better selling characters of Marvel Comics. There is even a movie planned for him. What are they going to do, reset. He was originally a Deathstroke expy, until he evolved into the insane, forth wall, lunatic mercenary, we have all come to love.

Maybe Marvel comics will just leave him the same, and dump him into the this new reality, with all his memories. Everyone considers him a lunatic. So, it will be hard to get people to believe him. Still, if that is the case. He is going from having a daughter, a hot wife, and working for Steve Rogers, to go back to being considered a crazy cold-blooded villain... That's... That's just mean.

Sounds like it could be an interesting series, and I'm go for anything by PAD in the 2099 era :).

Only negative that could come out of this is no Spider-Man 2099 post-Secret War :(.
