Season five of the critically acclaimed AMC original series returns tonight with a 2 hour premiere at 9 PM Eastern. Its been a while since the previous season aired(2010 to be exact) and it was due to contract negotiations between Matthew Weiner and the network. Now that's out of the way, fans can enjoy the hard drinking, sexist ways of their favorite characters.

    Episode 5.01 and 5.02: "A Little Kiss"

Like the rest of the series, I'll be catching this later on DVD/BD instead.

Can't wait. This is my favourite TV show currently airing.

I love this show. 17 months was far too long a wait but luckily that's over and the show hasn't missed a beat. Roger and Pete's back and forth was great. I think the parts that had me laughing the most was Harry embarrassing himself in front of Megan and Pete busting his nose open on his pillar.

My favorite part had to be when Lane comforted Joan. "Our finances are held by spit" and "...can't operate a parking meter" were hilarious. The Roger and Harry scene was also a hoot. "Is this going to be monthly?"/"Get out!"

I essentially sped through all 4 seasons last summer and it is so weird now watching it without being able to jump right into the next but this premiere provided a lengthy dose. I just loved the dialogue as usual. Its quick, smart and witty. The quick eye movement, tilt of their heads and all the other subtleties of their acting is entertaining to watch! After last season, I kind of felt like maybe madmen would be spreading it thin by having Don marry Megan but it is so great that they just jumped into everything and and surprised us with what is actually now just a regular part of the characters' lives. The premiere gave an interesting view on Don's life and the changed dynamic he has with Megan as opposed to with Betty, as well as how that has affected Peggy's relationship with Don. But seriously, not being able to immediately watch the next episode is so annoying. That promo for next week is so chopped up you cannot tell what the heck is going on lol...talk about secrecy.

I'm loving these scenes with a single character paired with Harry, very funny stuff. Loved seeing Don at work even at a Rolling Stones concert. Felt a little sorry for Roger but his role is essentially becoming the same as Bert - the man behind the curtain but he doesn't want to be yet. Laughed at Henry's line about George Romney, couldn't resist.

I never did like that Greg so I won't miss him and I was wondering if Joan would ever bring up that office incident from...season 3 was it? The whole episode seemed a lot heavier than the last 2 episodes especially Don's...nightmare? I guess that was him killing the old Don's lifestyle but that was a lot more intense than I thought.

Still had some funny moments like Sally and Henry's mother getting to know each other and of course Roger's full pockets. Seriously why does he carry so much cash:sweat:

Agreed, it was a long time coming for Joan.

I did like Sally and Henry's mother 'bonding' over the murders. I cracked up when Henry saw she had a big knife next to her and Sally was under the couch. Another thing that had me laughing were some of the anachronisms like Don smoking when he was sick.

I think Joan wasn't just speaking for the office but the audience about everyone wanting to kick Pete's ass. I think Lane and Pete's fight is one of my new favorite scenes from this show ever. Even when Lane is trying to be threatening he sounds dignified, loved his old timey fighting stance as well.

I also liked the scene with the guys at the "gentleman's" club. Pete being very selective with the scenario was just hilarious.

I was confused on one thing because I missed the first couple minutes but why was Pete hanging out at what looked like a high school? The guy had quite the move at the end; up there with Frank Costanza's stop short.

Trudy 'defeating' Don on the phone was my favorite scene.

Agreed, hilarious scene. Laughed when Roger lit up.

A driver's ed course. Guess since they moved to their new home, Pete needs his license now.

Interesting episode, took me a bit aback when I realized that everything was happening at the same time. Roger's LSD trip was probably my favorite bit( Roger seems to be getting the best bits this year ) and was also enlightening as well. Besides who wouldn't want to hear a symphony everytime you open a bottle:D

I had a similar stand off Peggy had with the Heinz guy once.

That was hilarious with the bottle and 'Don' popping in.

I had to laugh when it cut to Peggy washing her hands.

    Indeed she's very friendly.

Nice, hopefully it went better for you than it did for Peggy:p

I laughed at that and the lion roar just before the scene cut.

And what's up with Don this season? This is the second time he's been portrayed as almost a lunatic. Last time you could chalk it up to a dream but the way he chased Megan made him look like some sort of slasher villain.

As my user title can show, I was a fan of this week's episode. But, I do feel that Roger had the best story here. I don't know why, but I've always been a fan on Roger. I think it's because he reminds of a classier version of Cartman, - a character that does horrible things, yet you end up laughing at them instead of booing them. The LSD scene was just phenomenal. The music with the bottle, the split hair-dye, Don's monologue, the dollar bill, just all of it.

I could also never get into Don's storyline though. I don't know why I just felt it was.....boring I guess.

It was slow, but I liked it. I think it was more to show the tension between Megan wanting to work and Don wanting Megan to be his wife first. If nothing else, maybe this episode will trigger a revitalization of Howard Johnson's in America(at least the diner. I think some of the hotels are still around).

Another thing I liked about the episode was Bert telling Don to focus on his job more.
