The announcement was made this afternoon by Sony Pictures.

Between Genndy Tartakovsky directing Hotel Transylvania/Can You Imagine? and this, it seems like SPA is becoming the go-to place for CN veterans. Looks like Faust is getting her chance to direct a feature with a strong, female lead.

Either way, I'm sure the Bronies will be all over this.

Good. Sony knows how to pick 'em.

I'm glad to know that TV animators are getting work in the film industry, but I'm also rather wary at the same time. The other CN veteran that works at Sony made Hotel Transylvania, and I wasn't the biggest fan of that movie, and I also can't stand the character designs that Sony has nowadays. But this does still have Faust, and like a good little Brony, I'll support her work. And this does have Greek mythology, so I'm already game.

Told as a comedy this could be a good movie. Especially with Faust directing.
Medusa is ridiculously vain and can't keep from shutting up about it. She gets cursed, then everyone she can go to for help gets turned to stone. Plus she has snakes in her [strike]plane[/strike] hair. I'm smiling already.

It was less that he made it and more that he saved it. It was in development hell for years and already had a lot of stuff finished by the time Genndy was hired. He was tasked with "fixing" something that was completely broken. It has his influence, but it wasn't his movie.

Ah. Makes sense; SPA is prone to put movies in development hell. I'm still waiting for Fanimals and Harold and the Purple Crayon.

I should say I'm happy but I'm not. I thought her secret project was a full-length Super Best Friends Forever series.

This can be her "Nimh". She's our next Don Bluth. I can feel it. It's happening! Her thing with Mane6 is like her "Dragon's Lair" already.

I'm excited for this. I hope it actually goes into production.

And it's been said that Adam Sandler has a lot of say in the movie too, do that has an effect on it as well.
I don't think we'll see Genndy really shine creatively until Popeye or Can You Imagine?

Also as a bit of trivia, David Feiss of Cow and Chicken/I M Weasel fame is also at SPA. And been there longer than either CN alumn. He was even set to direct Hotel Transylvania one time.

Making Medusa into a comedy is not a good idea, IMHO - Medusa is a tragic protagonist... THIS is something that needs to be treated more seriously than just your run of the mill comedy. Even if Faust is attached to this - and I think Friendship Is Magic is horribly overrated, IMO, which means my expectations are lowered a bit from that factor alone... SHE BETTER BRING HER A - GAME HERE. Or else.

This is one thing that makes me highly grateful that a woman is in charge of this flick. A comedy about a woman through the female gaze can be quite an unconventional experience for the male eye and is unbelievably rare these days, so I give Faust her full permission to do so.

(Did you thought I was gonna continue slut-shaming her like you did?)

HECK NO... I'm just worried, that's all - knowing what regime is in control of this movie. And I AM NOT whatever-shaming Faust, neither. I just don't think comedy when I think Greek dramatic tragedy like the legend of Medusa, good sir.

Let's not make too much of an argument out of this, please.

With Gutierez working on Book of Life, and Faust working on this project, I think it's good time to be an animation fan

And as far as the previous post is concerned, I was more offended by Disney's productions Th
is seems to be more of a parody than a neutering

What productions from Disney have offended you? I'm curious to know if you have time to explain.
