This is the story of the thrift shop item that had remained unopened since 1995: "INTERNET IN A BOX."

If you can remember existing within this year, you'll feel pretty darn old. Barely anything about this product still applies to the Net of today and no portion of it can be installed without emulation. Also, you can't go online with it anymore since it looks for a dial-up modem (unless you're using one!)

Anyway, get to the pictures, they're both amusing and sad.

My favorite part is the included "Entire Internet Directory" in paperback.

    Pretty interesting.

I wonder what would happen if the modem were used. Would it work?

Yay, it's as old as I am!

Interesting stuff, including the primitive search engine.

CompuServe was actually the first Internet browser I ever used at home, and the one I made my first email address through.

Same here. Boy, do I have bad memories of that terrible service.

Wow, I'm old enough to remember Windows 95 and using it. Oh the horrors of it all.

I remember enjoying "Chip's Challenge", though.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was on the front line of telephone tech support for this product in my senior year of college at the University of Washington. What a huge pain. SPRY Inc. was bought out by CompuServe the following year.
