In a world, where on that fateful day in New York, the Ghostbusters did NOT cross streams, and were thus unable to destroy Gozer or close his portal. Now, 31 days later, NYC has descended into chaos and ruin, ruled with the deliciously soft fist of... THE STAY-PUFT MARSHMALLOW MAN!

In a World... Where OPTIMUS PRIME Never Died! One would stand and one would fall... and we all know OPTIMUS PRIME fell. But how would history have played out if he hadn't? Would the AUTOBOTS have still stood triumphant in their darkest hour... or would UNICRON have reigned supreme?!

What if stories have to straddle a pretty narrow line. They can be too faithful to the original story so as to be redundant. They can also be so different that they're unbelieveable/unrecognizable. I think this alternate look at Transformers the Movie (in time for the 30th anniversary) does an very good job of striking a balance between the two.

The changes aren't overblown and make sense within context of the story. Starscream winds up getting quite a bit more screen time at poor Megatron's expense and he really makes the most of it. Hot Rod is portrayed pretty well, particularly as a screw up who means well. Though at times he comes off as too incompetent. Ultra Magnus is really confrontational in this and really wasn't like this at all in the film.

Daniel is probably the biggest beneficiary of Easton's pen. He comes off very sympathetic, grounded, and likable. Easily the best portrayal of the character in the franchise. Robots in Disguise writers take note.

Using panels from Don Figueroa's adaptation was a nice touch. He was one of the best Transformers artists of the early to mid 00s. Speaking of artists, Tramontano does an excellent job on art duties.

All in all a solid read. A definite recommend for fans of the original story.

For added flavor read with the movie's original soundtrack.

The Ghostbusters story was slanted to being more comedic and Tempore Ruga being trapped already was rather convenient, but Gozer/Stay Puft was so funny! Leave in that form for a month, so dead one that's how it would act. The "slightly sentient poop" line was also amusing.

It was a pleasant surprise to see this issue run longer than the monthly ongoing. Looks at the covers in various stages, a word from Kelly Thompson on the genesis of the story, a recap of the ongoing series, and coolest of all, a new hint about Egon's sub-plot in the ongoing!!!

In a world… where COBRA rules the planet! COBRA COMMANDER’s forces have won, the entire planet Earth now submits to COBRA rule… but the burdens of ruling over billions of people make COBRA COMMANDER long for the good old days. And he decides there’s just one group that can bring chaos back to this totalitarian order: G.I. JOE!

That was really something. Strange, but not completely surreal like Transformers vs. G.I. Joe. It was definitely different from every other Joe story I've read. The art, by Corey Lewis of Sharknife fame, looks phenomenal and matches the kinetic frenzied tone of the book. The character designs are a delight, especially the Commander's demented, shonen villain look, which is given a pretty funny explanation in the pages of the book.

As for the story, like the X-Files book, its less a "what if" than the pilot for a complete reimagining of the G.I. Joe mythos, from the aforementioned design to setting. While fun, it runs smack into the page limitations of a single issue. Cobra Commander and the remnant Joes are given decent characterization, but Cobra and its members feel rather thinly sketched all things considered.

Given the open-ended ending, I'd love to see this developed further, especially now that Scioli's hanging up his hat and leaving the franchise for the foreseeable future.

The TMNT one was really good. I little but undercooked but overall a very satisfying and tragic look at how things would've turned out if Casey was killed and Shredder was able to brainwash all the brothers. The ending of the story, with everything in tatters and major losses on both sides is tragic but also interesting in that despite the heavier losses and more violent outcomes, Shredder would have ended up defeated regardless.
