Here's another trailer
Looks like they have made changes.
It will air Sundays at 8:30 P.M. starting July 9.
The first episode is now on Disney Channel's YouTube.
I'm not liking the kid versions of the Mummy,Frankenstein, and goo-monster. The chicken wanting to drive the pink human car was adorable though. I think the show has potential.
I dig the art style and cartooney animation, the rest is alright. nothing amazing but it has potential to be pretty solid if the writing improves, Im a sucker for these kind of shows so I'm going to keep watching.
I just gotta get some nitpicks out of the way.
1. It's not hand-drawn, nor exactly like Gendy Tartakovskey's work, but the animation is decent.
2. I'm okay with Toronto based voice talent, but I feel this should have been casted with LA voice actors. I don't know I just don't feel the performances in this series, and who ever's voicing the chicken is particularly a shame to other actors who can do better animal voices.
3. What's with the chicken anyway?!
4. Why would Dracula even leave his beloved daughter in the hands of someone so hateful and cruel? He can't really be THAT stupid, can he?!
5. Why does this have to be a prequel series?! Why not just make it take place after the sequel, or even in between the first and second film?! The prequel thing is not interesting at all with The Croods, and it's no different here.
That aside, the first episode isn't terrible, but I can tell this series does not capture that same Gendy Tartakovskey feel in the writing, especially in the comedy.
Well Drac's sister isn't downright evil, just very strict. Even after making a threat to eat the human that was loose in the hotel, she quickly took back her words and said that she was just gonna scold the human. Don't forget with this being a prequel means Drag is being strict with protecting his daughter, and thus leave the hotel and his daughter with someone as strict or even stricter than himself.
I really want the Hotel Transylvania TV series to use a Los Angeles-based voice cast instead of a Toronto-based voice cast!
I haven't gotten around to watching the episode yet, so I can't comment on how the voices are, but I think it's too late to use a Los Angeles-based cast.
I thought Enter the Nosepicker was really boring and it felt like that plot can happen in any show.
Hide and Shriek was a lot better. They used the monster concept and I feel it was better paced and didn't drag on like the previous episode.
I hope the rest of the show is more like the second segment and less like the first one. If so, I can say it's a decent show. But if it's more like the first segment, I'd have to say it's either mediocre or bad.
Unfortunately, this is a Canadian production, and they aren't allowed to use voice actors from other countries, unless they have dual citizenship like Tara Strong, or Cree Summers.
I know that, but why produce it there I have no clue.
Cheaper I guess, which is a shame really. If it was produced in the US, I'm sure it would have had a more distinctive style to make it pop out, and really make it tie in to the Hotel Transylvania universe, instead of this "Typical CanCon Cartoon with a Haunted Twist" that I'm afraid that they're going to do.
I like it. Something between Star Vs. and Foster's Home.
Does this show have any continuity errors?
I personally never had a problem with these types of shows based on movies, it's not perfect but it's fun and fits right in with the rest of the network.
Personally I think I like TV Mavis more than movie Mavis.
It has more errors than an average CN weekly schedule. But it's not bad if you can look past all that.
I was asking since I was watching the first movie on FXX. Strange to think FX has the movie while Disney Channel has the show.
Teletoon is premiering this show in October 7th.
How appropriate. I bet it will be right after a Freaktown marathon.
