Why is this on Disney Channel?
Like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs I am kind of worried what is in store with this one.
Speaking of which like CN, Disney seems to have decided to jump on the Sony adaptation train. Now I just wonder where is Nick's one.
"This video is not available in your country."
Well, at least Disney Channel is bringing more animation which is a fine start.
It looks decent enough, nothing about really stands out good or bad.
Too bad Genndy has nothing to with this with his show pedigree and all that.
Looks better than I expected. Seems like a lighter Star Vs. I think it will debut in Europe in October.
I think it airs on DC @TheVileOne because it's based on the films and they want more exposure.
Well, considering that he worked on Samurai Jack season 5, and then moved onto Hotel Transylvania 3, I doubt he could juggle both a theatrical movie and a tv show at the same time.
But the films weren't made by Disney.
It just seems like a weird choice. Acquisitions don't have a great track record on the Disney cable channels and Disney XD. Also, it's not a Disney animated property.
Because Nelvana signed a contract.
I think that's precisely the reason - on the main channel simply more people can see it. Plus DXD is too action-esque for it. But I agree I'd probably rather see it on CN where it would fit more.
This is a Nelvana Toronto production. They use Toon Boom since the developer is their sister company. That's been the case for pretty much all of their internal 2D productions (Zhu Zhus, Mysticons, Bravest Warriors S4, etc.) now. Lots of other companies use Toon Boom, even OLM and Disney.
Sony Pictures Animation doesn't have a lot of IPs. Maybe if that Ghostbusters cartoon ever gets made it could run alongside TMNT. Do they have the rights to make Smurfs TV shows?
I think this is on Disney Channel because CN didn't want it since the only acquisition they care about is Teen Titans Go which would leave Nick (& we KNOW how terrible they are with acquisitions!)
Plus it could also have something to do with Nelvana like Disney signed a contract for The Zhu Zhus & it probably included Hotel Transylvania
What I wonder is:
Will they start airing the movies?
Then again, CN did acquire My Knight and Me and the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs TV series. While they aren't exactly known for treating acquisitions that aren't TTG very well, I don't think they turn them down for not being TTG.
Chances are quite likely. They've aired plenty of third-party movies before, including Sony's own Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
even tho that ones show is airing on CN
A Sunday premiere that is fitting for the show.
Does the "Hotel Transylvania" TV series have a Los Angeles-based voice cast or does it have a Toronto-based voice cast?
Nothing has been said yet about the cast, but chances are they could be Toronto based much like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
