The second season of the low-rated, but critically acclaimed series makes its world television debut tonight at 10 PM Eastern. Created by Bryan Fuller, the show takes the characters made famous by Thomas Harris and starts them at the beginning. The first season was critically adored, but low-rated. It was able to come back for another season due to being a co-production(therefore, costs were low for NBC) and some other networks being interested in picking it up if NBC decided not to. Fuller has stated that he has 7 seasons worth of stories planned for the show. Will it even get to that point? Tune in to find out.

    Episode 2.01: "Kaiseki"

We prefer to be called "Fannibals", thank you very much. :3

But man, THAT SEASON OPENING. I loved seeing Hannibal fighting that guy in season 1, so you can imagine how I liked seeing him and Larry going at it. Really want to watch the next episode, hurry up itunes!

Edit: LOL, scratch that. Ten minutes after posting this, I got the season pass notification. I love that they went for another Japanese title. The double meaning isn't as cool as the last one (last time it meant "analysys", this time it's "at a later date"), but it does fit with the Japanese aunt theme from the Red Dragon prequel. Can't wait to watch once the download finishes.

Heh, I believe the title theme for this season comes from Japanese titles, as opposed to the French ones used for the first. And yes, it is a good fit.

That's the cool thing about Japanese: when spoken or written in romaji, there is such a big potential for double meanings.

Loved Gillian Anderson's character in this one, especially when she talked to Will.

I can take a lot of the unique murders in the show (probably because they are so outlandish), but maaaaan I was cringing when that guy had to tear chunks of his skin off before he tried to escape during the opener.

Boo, no cool double meaning (at least before I watch it). Hassun is a fancy serving tray for kaiseki, but also 24 centimeters and an old kind of paper.

Based on Todd van Der Waff's Walkthrough of the season with Bryan Fueller (don't sleep on them, btw- I can't recommend them enough), this is probably the most "traditional" episode of the season, and things will change around with the next.

    Still quite good, though.

Yeah, finally got to see it. I'm usually not bothered by gore in the least, but man- I cringed a few times. I've been watching these from itunes, are they they same version that aired on TV? Kind of dark, and it makes the original Silence of the Lambs movie look like it could air with only Buffalo Bill's "scene" trimmed.

    Also, about the judge-

The look on Hannibal's face as soon as the judge ruled the defense inadmissible...

Well, if you want to know if Beverly's okay, read this. If not, I understand.

Nooooo, they killed off Beverly? B-But, but, but, but... Okay, that was an awesome cliffhanger. I admit I am a tad disappointed because she was a prominently well-written Asian character played by a fellow Korean and that made her extra super special awesome to me, but I can't see how they could have gone any further with her considering just what she discovered.

Either way, I am excited for the next episode.

This one's ending gives the last one's twist a run for its money. DAMN.

Yeah, these last two were pretty good. I'm actually glad I waited until yesterday to watch ep 5, because I wouldn't have liked waiting after that conclusion.

But man, what he did to Gideon. *shudder* (also, LOL at the census taker bit)
