Some bureaucrats menaged in the past to find a "knife problem" ,I guess is to justify their job. http://countercurrentnews.com/2014/11/british-police-calling-for-knife-ban/#

As for stats, why only comparing developed countries with the US? https://mises.org/blog/mistake-only-comparing-us-murder-rates-developed-countries It could had been interesting to compare cities like for example Seattle vs Chicago or more specific neighborhoods of each city.

I agree with that article. (Except for the following sentence: "Politically, historically, and demographically, the US has little in common with Europe or Japan.") But if you look at the graphs, you can see that all countries with a high murder rate have a reason for that. (war, poverty, political issues, etc...) But what reason does the US have?! An average US citizens is richer and more educated (except when it comes to foreign history :ack:) than your average European, Asian, Latino or African citizen. The US seems to be one of the best places in the world. It doesn't even have that many criminals. So why is the murder rate so high then? [IMG] Lenient gun laws is the only thing I can think of.

EDIT: @wonderfly: Is this discussion going on too long? Or is it okay as long as we stay friendly? :D

It's fine. I think when it comes to political debates, the main rule above all else is don't insult or "troll" one another.
