"There is no good and evil. There is only power, and those too weak to seek it." -Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

And here we go again. From the giant movie monsters to the diabolical Nazi to the sympathetic baddie with a good heart, there are frequently villains in the stories we tell. People we love to hate, people who aren't afraid to get dirty, people we wish could be the hero, people who are just plain evil. But out of them all, who is....

    THE GREATEST MOVIE VILLAIN EVER!!!

You know the rules! Matches will consist of four villains, you rank them 1-4. No changing once a vote has been cast. Each match will be given at least 24 hours before the next update. If I ever update before 24 hours are up and you have not yet voted, you may do so as long as you post within 24 hours of the time the match in question went up and I will change the score to adjust for it. New voters are always welcome, even if you've never posted on the Fun & Games forum at all!

    Enjoy!

    Round One

    First match will up shortly.

    ROUND ONE, MATCH ONE

    Contestants are....

    Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man 2)

    Hans Landa (Inglorious B*sterds)

    Carl Denham King Kong, 2005)

Charlie Prince (3:10 to Yuma, 2007)

    Again, that's:

    Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus
    Hans Landa
    Carl Denham
    Charlie Prince

    My vote:
    1. Hans Landa (Hell yeah! He was just so flippin' awesome!! Halfway through the movie, I turned to friend and said, "I REALLY love that actor!" I later learned that he won the Oscar for it. Good man. ;) )
    2. Doc Ock (Hand down! All 6 of 'em!)
    3. Charlie Prince (Don't know him.)
    4. Carl Denham (Or him. But I don't think I'll be seeing the new King Kong anytime soon, on the count I heard there were giant bugs. Doesn't usually mix well with me....)

I agree. Though I don't think Carl Denham was a villain...he was the only one in that movie that was interesting though...

I'll take this. I saw OB in theaters, and when I saw Waltz' performance I was impressed. It wasn't until the scene in the theater where he laughs at Pitt and crew that I knew he had an Oscar nom even win. As for Prince, only seen that once. Denham is a villain, but mild in this company. Spideyfan, yeah the big bugs are cool, but you gotta see the film. Make it a Thanksgiving tradition like many New Yorkers.

    1. Doc Ock: one of the greatest completely evil comic book villains of all time reinterpreted as a (believable) sympathetic villain? genius
    2. Landa: haven't seen the movie but have heard great things
    3. Denham: I've seen a bit of Kong. whatever
    4. Prince: haven't seen this one either

    1. Hans Landa: Fantastic villain, the most memorable character in the movie.
    2. Charlie Prince
    3. Dr. Octopus: I've only seen the first "Spider-Man" movie. However, I can't say I found Carl Denham particularly memorable, so Doc Ock gets third place anyway.
    4. Carl Denham: You know, I'd completely forgotten about this guy. I mean, I remember who he is and his role in the movie, but that's it.

Only movie I've seen here is Spider Man so I'll pass on the first match.

When I was growing up in Tri State NYC, WWOR 9 used to play the King Kong films on Thanksgiving weekend. Then, I think WPIX 11 tried to compete with them by marathoning Godzilla films. Yeah, the original is classic. It's an unsung Universal horror mixed with the early sfx akin to Metropolis. Must see.

    1. Carl Denham - I feel like he deserves one person to put him in first. He was the only really memorable part of the remake for me.
    2. Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus - My personal favorite of the Spider-Man movie villains.
    3. Hans Landa - Eh, I enjoyed the actor's performance in The Green Hornet. (There's a villain I should've nominated...)
    4. Charlie Prince - Don't know him.

One of the most referenced movies of all time is unsung?

Yeah, if you haven't seen the original King Kong, you should get on it. It's a fun and sometimes even spine-tingling ride! Great way to spend a hour and 45 minutes.

    Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus- 15
    Hans Landa- 17
    Carl Denham- 4
    Charlie Prince- 6

And that, my friends, is what we call a "no contest."

    ROUND ONE, MATCH TWO

    Contestants are....

    General Zod (Superman 2)

    Drexl Spivey (True Romance)

    Ghostface Killer (Scream)

General Jack D. Ripper (Dr. Strangelove...)

    Again, that's:

    General Zod
    Drexl Spivey
    Ghostface Killer
    General Jack D. Ripper

    My vote:
    1. Jack D. Ripper (Oh noes! The Commies are trying to steal our precious fluids!)
    2. Ghostface (Kinda iconic, no?)
    3. Drexl Spivey (I like the picture.)
    4. Zod (Honestly haven't seen the movie.... Awaiting backlash.)

    1. General Zod- Hey, he counts because this movie pretty much MADE General Zod what he is today! Kneel before Zod, cretins!
    2. Ghostface Killer- I know him.
    3. Jack D. Ripper- Like the name. Hear the movie's boring though.
    4. Drexl Spivey- Who?

Yeah but, it's not a UNIVERSAL HORROR movie at all. Universal released the remake, but the original was made by then RKO. I call unsung, cause it fits in with what Universal was making back then, Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, The Mummy, etc.

I know who Ghostface and Zod are (not familiar with Drexl, though), but I haven't seen either of their movies. So, I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this match. Oh, and General Ripper needs to move on, the guy was pretty much willing to start World War III because he thought the commies had made him impotent (at least I think that's what it was). Hard to get more egocentric than that.

    1. General Zod - One of the few things I remember from Superman II.
    2. Jack D. Ripper - I've been meaning to check out Strangelove for a while now.
    3. Ghostface Killer - I know him.
    4. Drexl Spivey - I don't.

Oh, and SpideyFan, Rattlesnake Jake is from Rango. Might help your image searches a bit. ;)
