"I don't care what the reasons are - I forbid you to fight." -Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

And here we go again. From the big tall action heroes to the little man of our favorite dramas to the comedic relief of animation, there are always heroes in the stories we tell. People we identify with, people we worship, people we pity, people we love unconditionally. But out of them all, who is....

    THE GREATEST MOVIE HERO EVER!!!

You know the rules! Matches will consist of four heroes, you rank them 1-4. No changing once a vote has been cast. Each match will be given at least 24 hours before the next update. If I ever update before 24 hours are up and you have not yet voted, you may do so as long as you post within 24 hours of the time the match in question went up and I will change the score to adjust for it. New voters are always welcome, even if you've never posted on the Fun & Games forum at all!

    Enjoy!

    Round One

    First match will up shortly.

    ROUND ONE, MATCH ONE

    Contestants are....

King George VI (The King's Speech)

    Ilsa Lund (Casablanca)

Han Solo (The Star Wars Trilogy)

    Harry Potter (Harry Potter Series)

    Again, that's:

    King George VI
    Ilsa Lund
    Han Solo
    Harry Potter

    My vote:
    1. Han Solo (Duh!)
    2. Ilsa Lund (Tough choice here, but Ingrid Bergman puts her over the top. Casablanca's pretty great, no?)
    3. Berty (Yup, Colin Firth definitely deserved the Oscar here. Well, actually, maybe James Franco did.... Anyway, though, I recommend the movie and won't mind if he beats Ilsa.)
    4. Harry (Be honest now. He's the lamest character in the series. Really.)

    1. Han Solo- Le duh.
    2. King George VI- I liked the movie and Firth was good.
    3. Ilsa Lund- Not the most heroic character in the movie, but she'd be a good choice to move on.
    4. Harry Potter- In a tough match like this, a character who was a HUGE literary character is by default the weakest one. Sorry, Harry.

Wait...Batman's nominated twice....oh, this thread just got unfair for EVERYBODY...:p

Solo- "Hey kid, May the Force be with you"
Potter- I'm not a huge fan of the films, and never read the books, but I have to admit they're fun. I enjoyed seeing this character develop in the past years, something of a first for cinema perhaps. Oh well, maybe Antoine Doniel.
Lund- She didn't do much, and great as the film was Rick really is the hero of the story.
King George IV- Haven't seen the movie, don't even know what its about.

Harry Potter: "The Chosen Boy Who...well, something of that sort..."
Han Solo: Han Solo. He'd be first if Harry didn't need help.
King George: Never seen the movie.
    Lund: Who?

The heir to the throne (Albert AKA King George VI) has a very bad stammer and requires speech therapy. As a film lover, you most definitely must see it.

Really excited for these contests. :D

    1. Han Solo (Easy choice here. He's one of the best characters ever)
    2. Harry Potter (Also great. I don't think that he's the most bland of the series, I think that he's a great character. He is the main hero)
    3. Ilsa Lund (As everyone said, she wasn't the main hero of the story)
    4. King George VI (Haven't seen The King's Speech yet)

    1. Han Solo - Was tempted to put Berty here, but Han Solo's too cool to be demoted to second.
    2. King George VI - Was a great character to root for. I used to have speaking problems, and still sometimes do, so I really sympathized with him. Also, thanks to overprotective parents, The King's Speech is the only R-rated movie I've seen unedited. Thanks Mom and Dad!
    3. Ilsa Lund - Interested in her movie, but really don't know.
    4. Harry Potter - Not a Harry Potter fan and he's definitely a threat.

King George VI (The King's Speech)
    VS.
    Harry Potter (Harry Potter Series)

    ROUND ONE, MATCH TWO

    Contestants are....

Mr. Tibbs (In the Heat of the Night)

Marty McFly (The Back to the Future Trilogy)

    Jack Skellington (Nightmare Before Christmas)

    Ben Braddock (The Graduate)

    Again, that's:

    TIEBREAKER
    King George VI
    Harry Potter

    MATCH TWO
    Mr. Tibbs
    Mary McFly
    Jack Skellington
    Ben Braddock

    My vote:
T.B. Prince Albert, definitely. Like Blankments said, he was a great character to root for!
    1. Ben (He's concerned about his future in this competition....)
    2. Marty (Duh. Back to the Future is awesome!)
    3. Tibbs (Don't know him.)
    4. Jack (I hereby deem thee: Threat.)

    1. Mr. Tibbs ~ Haven't seen it? Go watch it. NOW. Sidney Poitier is the most passionate actor I've ever seen; boiling with anger but firm and respectful. Like a father. There's this one scene... well, just WATCH. Possibly the most badass scene in film. Just the split-second reaction... remember, 1960s south. My jaw dropped.
    2. Marty McFly ~ Heavy, Doc.
    3. Jack Skellington ~ Frankly not my favorite character. I love "What's This?" but find Sally much more appealing.
    4. Ben Braddock ~ Never seen The Graduate, though I would certainly like to.

    Harry in tiebreaker.

    1. Marty- aka Calvin Klein
    2. Tibbs- Seen the original, but not the sequel. Always wondered how it stood up.
    3. Jack- Couldve been more mean in the beginning, but then he wouldve been too Scroogy or Grinchy.
    4. Ben Braddock- Not a huge fan of the film, probably seen it once, and don't really remember it.

Tiebreaker - King George VI - Besides me giving you more reasons why he's awesome, I'll just say that I don't really know Harry Potter that well.

    1. Marty McFly - Hero of one of the greatest franchises ever!
    2. Jack Skellington - He was amusing, and a fun hero.
    3. Mr. Tibbs - Never seen the movie, but my parents told me to nominate him. Based that video, he seems like a cool guy.
    4. Ben Braddock - Don't know.

    TB: Harry Potter

    1. Jack Skellington (Can't believe he isn't getting more support! Come on guys, Nightmare Before Christmas is awesome. Jack is a great hero because he only wants to spread joy, but he does so in his own unique way, accidentally terrifying everyone, showing how different perspective is everything. Amazing character, even if you want to call him more of an anti-hero)
    2. Marty McFly
    3. Ben Braddock (Great movie. Great character. Don't really consider him a hero after what he did)
    4. Mr. Tibbs (Haven't seen the movie)
