Ok. Maroni gets whacked. Penguin, perhaps fittingly, given how he was abused at the start of the series, sends Fish off with a mighty shove, and Falcone decides to retire. I'll take it.

Perhaps one drawback to season 1 is that there were too many stories being told at once. If they focused on the development of Penguin, and saved Nygma going insane for season 2, that would work better. Didn't like the punk 'do that Fish had this time. Bad omen, that.

That was hilariously bad like most of Gotham has been. All the problems that plague this show almost from the start were amped up to season finale levels. Nothing made sense character wise, too many threads, tone was all over the place, and just a misuse of good actors. I let go of Gotham awhile ago, and while there is potential there, it's probably never going to be realized. Last night I started watching Daredevil and that's so much better than this. Shame that a neat concept so predictably fell apart.

Weak overall finale for such a good show. I think the writing might have teetered off after Fish relocated.
Although, on the flipside we got more entertaining one-off villains, as well as an interesting progression on Bruce's side of the story.

There's a lot to look forward to next season:
-Penguin being the crowning king of Gotham's underworld; the Wayne corporation might step on his turf
-The batcave is about to unveil some well-kept secrets
    -Nygma cracked
-Barbara might go to the looney bin (that is about the most interesting thing the show has done with this terrible character)
-More serialized arcs on the horizon, individual cases will span more than 2 ep
-The Joker, for better or for worse, will be revealed? and developed
-Fish's fate is up in arms, but they left that one for the audience to decide (Pinkett Smith's contract is up, regardless)

Gordon and Bullock are probably the least affected. In any case, can not wait.
