Last July, Hulk Hogan sued Gawker Media in a $100 million lawsuit for posting a sex tape featuring the wrestler. The trial, which occurred in March (which you can watch here as an archived livestream), wound up being more rewarding for Hogan than anyone expected--Gawker now owed Hogan $115 million, which they couldn't afford. They attempted to appeal, which failed, bringing their fee up to $140 million.

Finally, today, Gawker filed for bankruptcy and was quickly acquired by Ziff-Davis Univision. Now all of Gawker's blogs--Kotaku, io9, Lifehacker, etc.--are under new management.

UPDATE: Bought by Univision, not Ziff-Davis (see below).

Gawker.com, yes. The other sites, no.

If even the Gremlins didn't want to face Hogan, what made Gawker think they stood a chance?

I can't believe that smugly embarrassing and humiliating our new technoaristocracy backfired! Who could have foreseen this outcome!

Well over Hogan the Gawker can really not like over putting them out of business.
