The fourth season of the highly anticipated, popular fantasy series makes its world television debut tonight at 9 PM Eastern. After last season's "Red Wedding" episode, what surprises will be store for us this season?

    Episode 4.01: "Two Swords"

Well that was a nice return to form. Pretty much everything you recognize about the show is present.

This is going to be the best season yet, I have to say. Or at least tied with last year, which is a mighty high standard to aspire to.

Soo many scenes to look forward to.

Next episode will have people cheering in the streets for sure.

I missed this show. So much.

Sometimes I forget just how funny it can be, but Bronn had me rolling with several one-liners. I would also be satisfied with episodes consisting solely of Jaime and Brienne sassing each other. If they wanted to include a few scenes of Arya and the Hound sassing each other, that would be acceptable.

The scene in the Godswood with Sansa and Ser Dontos kind of broke my heart. She's grown so much. (I just really, really love Sansa, okay?)

Always happy to see my boy Jon Snow and his epic bromance with Sam is well in order.

    And hello Oberyn.

    Next week, though. Oh maaaaan.

If it's even better than Arya getting her sweet revenge, I'm there.

That was brutal. As much as I hate the character, I ended up watching his final throes through my fingers.

"Killing a man at a wedding. Horrid. What sort of monster would do such a thing?" Lady Olenna remains the best.

On a lighter note, my fangirl heart soared when Brienne didn't deny loving Jaime.

And Oberyn for king of everything. His confrontation with Cersei and Tywin was sooo good.

People have already figured out who did it and their theory seems airtight. It makes me wonder if keeping a mystery is even possible in the connected age.

Well considering that the novels exist, not really.

I was told this mystery hasn't been solved in the books yet.

Well maybe not officially confirmed, but most, if not all, signs have a definite point of direction, which the direction in the episode only continues to prove.

But then again, who the hell expected that Ted Mosby would tell his kids a massive tale about their dead mother just so he can get back with their "aunt"? Maybe Martin is messing around with us.

There's a fairly detailed explanation of what happened implied in the books. And considering GRRM wrote this episode to coincide with said implications, I assume we're supposed to take them as true.

Some parties want HBO's head on a spike for last night. Do you think they went too far? If you saw it, you likely know the scene I mean.

It's hilarious and hypocritical to me that people are upset about this.

Jamie is a horrible person. He committed a horrible act. I mean, I'm not approving of what he did, but I'm flabbergasted by the controversy over this.

As Ross Douthat put it on twitter, you have HBO trying to give "HBO treatment" to a story that is already delivering on that treatment of the fantasy genre. Yeah, by now people should know what they're in for, but when you're making up the most vile stuff possible for its own sake there is eventually going to be a breaking point. There is no reason for that scene to exist the way it does.

Edit: Christopher Orr sums it up for The Atlantic:
