Exclusive: Fox Scrapping Animation Domination HD Saturday Block | Broadcasting & Cable
Not a total loss, unfortunately.
It was pretty hit or miss and I got into it late but I do think this is a shame. I'll miss the Lucas Bros especially.
Is there any reason? (like the ratings for it)
You can try reading the article.
No loss to me. Axe Cop ended up being the only thing that garnered my attention, but that, HSUSA were in repeat mode a lot, including nights of premiers ... and then you have LIVE sporting events at night and pushing the news up, wondering when that was going to end...(east-coaster here) it just got too boring of a wait for me so I skipped many many weeks.
So in short we have: an attack on decency, low ratings and college football pushing it to later timeslots.
Except for Axe Cop it never really felt like they were trying, and it wasn't something I would seek out very often. Trying to replicate Adult Swim with the AD brand doesn't work -- I'm used to AD putting out more polished productions than AS. It felt like a downgrade.
Shame, their Youtube channel I liked, and I heard good things about Golan the Insatiable. I just never got around to watching, since it was so late, and apparently east coasters got the short end of the stick. But it does say digital brands are still alive, so I guess Youtube's still around for now.
ADHD will live on in the online realm, and on AD.
Fox Pulls 'Animation Domination High-Def' From Late-Night, Steers Initiative To Digital, Primetime - Deadline.com
I'm waiting for the results when it goes online-only.
I'm not surprised in the slightest. Axe Cop was the only gem in this junk heap.
This doesn't remotely surprise me.
I'm not surprised either. I just hope we'll still get more Axe Cop from it. It was the even thing I liked on the block.
Aw man. I liked Axe Cop and Golan the Insatiable. At least the shows will live on via the Internet.
I really hope Ax Cop is one of those two series green-lighted. It was the best thing to come out of the block, and I'd love to see more.
Axe Cop needs to go on. That's a show I would actually recommend people watch. It looked better then that other cop series they wanted for prime-time.
And it deserves a bigger budget. It looks like they tried to make these shows dirt cheep.
High School USA I thought had some moments and gets extra points for its subversive humor.
Golan, I hardly knew you.
Lucas Brothers goes in the "just getting a show finished and put on tv is an accomplishment" category.
This block didn't really try hard. It wanted to be offensive more then it wanted to be good. As it turned out the least offensive show was their best.
Will they learn anything from that? I doubt it.
The block never felt steadfast ever since Fox was forced to neuter the TV-MA content. It was like the spark that kept things interesting went out.
I didn't even check out the shows after the first batch of episodes of Axe Cop and High School USA. The shorts on their YouTube channel can be a riot so it's probably better they focus on the online platform anyway.
Less competition for Toonami on Saturday nights always sounds good to me but this block surely fell victim to the might of SNL.
Maybe Axe Cop will move to Sunday nights.
