Nix's show will have Sentinels.
Lauren Shuler Donner confirms Legion and the X-men movies are separate universe.
I really do not get the point of that Legion Fox went out of there way to work with Marvel in order to make a show focusing on just one minor character.
The same reason someone decided to make a show about an obscure character like Jessica Jones? Or the same reason anyone makes anything? The creator of a hugely acclaimed TV show wanted to make a series about that character because he found him interesting.
Oh neat. So, this will either be in conjunction with their latest attempt at scifi or it will fill that space if A.P.B. doesn't work out.
I also have a sinking suspicion the sentinels will now be
The difference Jessica Jones is from a highly acclaimed comic. Legion is is not and they could have easily just used a different character. Heck that movie Split looks more like a Legion adaptation because it has James McAvoy.
...That most people have never heard of. Jessica Jones was not in anyway a known property prior to her show. Most comic characters past a certain point of notoriety are essentially new characters as far as the public is confirmed.
And the creator wanted to use this one. Not sure what's confusing about this.
Interesting. I wonder how they will look with a TV budget.
I'm glad this has finally been clarified. They have been crazy confusing about this. It's not related to the MCU or X-Men film series. It's standalone which is nice to see in this shared universe day and age.
I think he was just saying there didn't seem to be much fan demand or interest in Legion as a live-action show. Personally, I'm not super interested in this show, but I'm interested in giving it a try to see what it's like. It sounds like Logan in some ways with the focus on character development over the usual superhero action.
I'm aware of that. My point is that at this point, most new superhero properties fit that description of there not being all that much demand or interest. "They could have used someone more popular instead!" could have applied to Jessica Jones and the Guardians of the Galaxy just a few short years ago.
If someone has an interesting idea for a show or movie, notoriety level is pretty irrelevant since most people don't read comics anyway.
It doesn't matter if people never heard of her because the source material was actually good.
But he didn't have to he could have easily created his own they are clearly not taking any comic aspects at all.
If the entire basis of your argument is "This character isn't well known or popular and they could have used someone more popular" then it does. How well known the character is doesn't really matter at this point.
Uhm, yes they are. He's the son of Xavier with multiple personalities and strange mutant abilities. He just doesn't have a weird haircut. There are obvious changes but saying they aren't taking anything from the comics is a huge exaggeration.
Xavier isn't even showing up in this, Legion is the only character from the comics showing up!
He's still his father just like in the comics. That's been pretty much confirmed and they've said there are allusions to it in the pilot.
I think it was more that FX was happy with Fargo and they solicited their current showrunners if anyone had a pitch for an X-Men show, little to no stipulations, and Hawley had a pitch they liked a lot.
That's been confirmed?
When asked whether the decision to avoid Professor Xavier was an intentional one, Donner said it was. However, the producer promised the show touches on the topic here and there.

Fox Orders X-Men Pilot From Bryan Singer, Matt Nix, Marvel TV
‘Legion’ Has to Prove Itself Before Potential X-Men Crossovers, Says Creator Noah Hawley
Nix teases who will appear on his show
And Bryan Singer is attached to direct the pilot. Wow.
Now it's a question of where in the timeline this all takes place.
Hopefully the original trilogy since that mean seeing characters from it when shouldn't be to hard to get.
Or which timeline. Heck, could give us a glimpse at the new timeline. Be neat if they show some differences from the old timeline even as easter eggs.
