    End of Evangelion [...] is perhaps the most brutal animated movie ever made

    Maybe if the full extent of your animation viewing are Disney and Ghibli productions.

    I'm hard-pressed to think of a animated film more brutal, actually. The gore is insane, not to mention the general tone of the story, characters, and directing.
