Preparing for high school exams is hard enough, but at Super Hero High, even the tests are super-tough! Principal Waller keeps an eagle eye on her students, drilling them in math, science, literature—and other subjects like flying and powers! And no one wants to fail, because Principal Waller hands out detention faster than a speeding bullet.

Leafing through the graphic novel, great stuff. Will have to read in more detail. Cool to see Steve Trevor's look after his only other appearance in the first novel and Solomon Grundy's official appearance after his cardboard cut out in the recent webisode with Batgirl's Batjet. Amusing it was Harley who pretty much saved everyone.

Lex Luthor was just trying to get even for his sister's application to SHH being rejected. But what a doofus for not taking their gear away. Definitely seeded the possibility Lena (not named specifically but who else?) will be a future threat. I recall some versions, she was a genius/scientist.

Was totally thrown off Batgirl has at least Batcaves around the city. I asked Fontana and she said Batgirl's good at upcycling. Hm. Loved the chapter with Katana and Beast Boy practicing stealth with hide and seek. Also, hilarious she beat him 642-3 in practice matches.

Lot of funny easter eggs, like a Captain Carrot poster in Batgirl's alpha cave, Batman and Nightwing plushes in another cave, Wayne Tech logo in one of the Cape & Cowls Cafe smoothie machines.

Is there any connection between Shea Fontana and television (Star Trek) writer D.C. Fontana?

I'm sure that they're not the same person, but I thought it possible that Shea might be the daughter or granddaughter (or even niece) of D.C. Fontana.

    HITS AND MYTHS

A definite lightspeed improvement over Finals Crisis in terms of pacing and content. Pretty cool to see it framed as a 'day in the life' start to finish on a Friday. Nice to see the focus back on Wonder Woman a little and how stressed she gets with trying to do everything. Always great to see the faculty and student body expand as well as the world of DCSHG as well as cash in one all the canon previous to this GN like introducing the first from Korugar Academy, Lobo, or introducing Black Canary and Raven and seeding future appearances...

But definitely a plus that some characters outside the main and recurring cast got the lime light like Miss Martian, Jinx, Gizmo, and even Katana who's still pretty much the most neglected of the main cast. Overall, happy to see these GNs are being used to tell a full story featuring many characters, cashing in previous set ups, seeding more, expanding the world -- doing everything right basically maybe even better than the movie did.

Some trivia and evidence at how big the canon has gotten in a little over a year. Had to use a spoiler tag since the list was so big
*Roll Call: Etrigan's notes his moniker "The Demon", Silver Banshee has accelerated healing and flight powers in addition to her scream, Grodd does have mind-control powers, and June Moone noted as a 'magical enchantress'

*The numerous shipping containers belong to "Fontana Freight" - a nod to writer Shea Fontana.

*Lion Mane had a cameo in Webisode 28 "Hero of the Month: Hawkgirl" and was introduced in the Yearbook.

*When Lion Mane stalks the girls, Batgirl's silouhette mimics the B:TAS logo.

*Hippolyta also refers to her and Wonder Woman's Greek heritage in Hero of the Year, her 'genetic' love of olives.

*Bumblebee refers to a deejay show. Her background of music came up as early as the second webisode when she let Wonder Woman listen to her music

*Starfire reminds her of a Model United Planets luncheon. Wonder Woman joind the club as a representative of Earth back in Webisode 10 "Clubbing"

*Heroball was briefly seen in the first webisode when Hawkgirl was introduced and has been only referred to off and on, most recently in the Yearbook.

*When Wonder Woman is in the library
**C.H.E.S.S. is mentioned. It is a club introduced in the Yearbook. It stands for Citizens Helping Extraterrestrials Succeed Society. An Earthling is paired with an alien such as Batgirl and Supergirl to help with adapting to life on Earth.
    **Weaponomics
**Hero History, short hand for Heroes Throughout History

*Harley asks about Odysseus from "The Odyssey"

*In Wonder Woman's daydream is rather prophetic.
    **Her Wonder Shield appears
    **The Cyclops is Ravager
    **The Witch is June Moone
**The Sirens are Black Canary and Silver Banshee
    **The Underworld is mentioned
**The local farmer is Jonathan Kent

*Wonder Woman answers Homer at first, the writer of the Odyssey and who cameos later in the GN

*The GN takes place on a Friday

*Among the girls going to Themyscira, it was Harley and Miss Martian's first time as far we know. The others all went there previously in Hero of the Year.

*The Metropolis Junior Detective Society gathers to help Batgirl. They first appeared trying to figure out who landed on Earth around the time of Webisdoe 10 "Clubbing" and that turned to be Supergirl.

*Batgirl's Oracle program appeared in the first GN Finals Crisis and Hero of the Year.

*The junior detectives are in Batgirl's alpha Batcave which appeared in the first GN Finals Crisis. Visible again is her Captain Carrot poster.

*Flash, like in the TV Special, once gain thinks Grodd is the culprit

*Ravager's association with the Theater Department was revealed in the Yearbook.

*Cheetah refers to Flash as 'Flash Dance'

*Flash was actually correct for once in thinking Etrigan took the Batjet

*The junior detectives talk about Waller's supervillain reform program, a nod to the suicide Squad from the comics. Previously, Vice Principal Grodd was the first to be revealed to have taken part in it. Then Big Barda transferred to Super Hero High. It is revealed here that Etrigan did as well. Crazy Quilt then admits he did, too.

    *Batgirl invokes Occam's Razor

*The smell of sulfur is believed to be synonomous with the presence of a demon

*Waller introduces Lobo to Wonder Woman and Harley. He was revealed to be a student at Korugar Academy in the Yearbook.

*Harley alludes to the fact that she often shows the new students around like Supergirl in the TV Special and Barda in Hero of the Year.

*June Moone was introduced in the Yearbook but her first appearance was in the first novel Wonder Woman at Super Hero High where she performed the Half Time Show as Enchantress.

*Katana's art side is briefly seen as she paints a heron. One of her completed works (not to mention award winning) is shown in the Yearbook.

*Wonder Woman and Harley are revolted by the thought of a love potion even though the former has a crush on Steve Trevor and the latter later shows some affection for Lobo.

*Liberty Belle and Wildcat appear on June's birthday list. Wildcat later makes a cameo. Liberty has a recurring role in the digital comic Past Times at Super Hero High.

*For the surprise party, Wildcat wants to do it on three. Later in the GN, the girls invoke Wildcat's 'on three' at the Portal Coffee Shop

*Chompy first appeared in Webisode 7 "Hero of the Month: Poison Ivy" and grew to giant size in the first GN Finals Crisis

*When Ivy captures Lobo with vines, he cites he's allergic. Croc also cited allergies when Ivy bound him in the TV Special.

*Lobo mentions Korugar and he turned to after school bounty hunting to make extra cash. As in the comics, bounty hunting is his profession.

*During Supergirl's search after Capes & Cowls, the Lexcorp building is acknowledged for the first time after being in background shots primarily

*Black Canary previously appeared in the first novel Wonder Woman at Super Hero High doing karaoke with Green Arrow at the half time show

*This is the first time Jinx is in the forefront

*Gizmo first appeared as a background character in Hero of the Year

*Silver Banshee was introduced in the Yearbook

*Canary's band referes to the Birds of Prey team from the comics

*Supergirl refers to Heroes Throughout History

*The bartender is Madame Xanadu and one of the patrons at the bar is Blue Devil but Shea Fontana didn't script them. Yancey Labat appears to have chosen to draw them in.

*Beast Boy likes to play drums as an octopus. That was revealed in Webisode 10 "Clubbing" when it was revealed he was in Band Club.

*Supergirl advises Miss Martian to 'believe in her super self' like Batgirl did for her in the TV Special

*Miss Martian's singing skills were revealed in the Yearbook

*Miss Martian sings the lyrics from the DC Super Hero Girls theme song

*Magpie previously appeared in the first novel Wonder Woman at Super Hero High where she was revealed to be a student at CAD Academy

*This is the first appearance of Black Condor and appears to be the current version John Trujillo who got his powers from Tocotl the Spider Goddess

*Jinx's spells are pink like in the Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! animated series

*Black Canary's rock star side appears to be taken from the New 52 comics

*Beast Boy invokes Cyborg's "Boo yah!" while jumping in the portal

*Miss Martian, while a bit on edge in the series, recoils at the sight of the flame geyser as fire is a weakness of the Martians in the comics

*Beast Boy eats his favorite meal, Pumpernickel Sandwich

*Trigon is often synonomous with the Devil and fits the bill here as lord of the Underworld and even eats a goat's leg, an animal associated with the Devil

*Raven's looks is based on her New 52 look

*Raven not wanted to take up Trigon's foot steps is a common arc recently in Teen Titans Go! and the Justice League vs. Teen Titans movie

*Shea Fontana confirmed Beast Boy's waive goodbye to Raven means he felt a 'definite connection' to her

*In the second novel Supergirl at Superh Hero High, Raven is already a student there though a bit of a continuity error

*Etrigan reveals he met Homer, referred to as a bard only, during a crime spree in ancient Greece and the passage he reads is from "The Odyssey"

*Merlin makes a cameo. In the comics, it was Merlin who bound Etrigan to Jason Blood

*The Boom Tubes appeared in the TV Special

*Waller states she will work on an official treaty with Trigon. Perhaps, she'll push for Raven in it...

*Wonder Woman tosses the keys to the Invisible Jet to Harley. This is the first time they were seen. They were previously mentioned in Webisode 24 "Dude, Where's My Invisible Jet?". After an ardous search for the jet, Wonder Woman couldn't find the keys.

*The chase ends at the Kent Farm in Smallville

*Magpie's fascination with shiny objects from the comics is her downfall as she's distracted by Wonder Woman's bracelets

*Smallville has its own Special Crimes Unit

*Flash and Beast Boy plan to play their "Craft of Warworld" game - a nod to "World of Warcraft" and to Warworld from DC Comics

*Two of Harley's board games refer to Mera as a pun on "The Little Mermaid" and to Mister Twister

*The copy of "The Odyssey" Harley read was Wonder Woman's. She hastily packed it in her case at the start of the GN.

Shea Fontana confirmed the archaeologist "Professor Minerva" that Hawkgirl looked up is Cheetah's mother, Thena Minerva (a character from the recent WW comics).
