I think Deborah Snyder meant that Batgirl is the next solo superheroine film. Gotham City Sirens is an antiheroine tean film.

I don't think anti-heroes (ines) for the Birds of Prey. I don't even care for the notion of Batman and Spider-Man, even though, yes they are vigilantes. I think anti-heroes who will kill both villain, civilian, and anyone else who stands in the way *Lobo*.

Not all antiheroes are killers or vigilantes, just so you know.

Plus, it sounds like that you're critical of said trope.

I think what Snyder meant is that Batgirl is the next SOLO superheroine film in the DCEU, so she's not wrong.

Of course, she meant that. What else would you try to sell off of Wonder Woman? I just thought they wanted to do GCS first. Why not sell that first, still female-centric.

The reason why she didn't mention GCS is that it doesn't revolve around one main female protagonist as it revolves around three main female protagonists.

This is why the DCEU is on a snark bait level and yet people think the MCU is the saviour, when they ignore problems that affected said shared universe since they're not completely innocent from those problems either.

And I really hope that despite the current problems, the DCEU manages to turnaround and gain respect. If not, then it's cursed.

Yeah, I certainly don't applaud Feige's MCU for everything. They are a business. My main gripe with having a DCEU is WB seemed better off with creative solo efforts. Even going so far to go with GJL's defunct Sandman and Singer's Superman Returns. We may not love them all, but they were creative.

You see, I was in the camp that wanted a similar shared universe for DC and given the response, it's not what I hoped for. However, I'm not giving up hope for the DCEU because I do hope they turnaround for once.

I think that AdrenalineRush199 was referring to Harley and her criminal cohorts, not the ladies of the Birds of Prey.

I don't think we got definitive evidence if we're gonna get the BoP, so that's my assumption. I just think it would be foolish to do this film without any heroines.

Do you think it's a good idea if they haven't done regular sidekicks like Robin yet? It seems DCEU may steer away from doing that with the realism thus far.

Joss Weadon had Donna in his Wonder Woman script so I can't see why not. Sidekicks are too essential to the universe for DC to just ignore

Well, like most of these franchises, it's a game of wait-and-see.

I'm not sure if I'd say that sidekicks are "essential"; heck, I'd say that partners/teammates work just as well (For example, I would love to see Hawkgirl or Power Girl in a Wonder Woman sequel; that would make for a fun team up).

I also think part of it is that the term side-kick is slightly outdated; it somehow comes across as condescending sometimes.

I can kinda understand the notion that sidekicks are "outdated" or hard to pull off in movies, though at the same time I also think they're a pretty important part of the DCU and to their respective franchises, so it would be nice to see that acknowledged in the DCEU to some degree :).

Beyond Batman having a dead Robin of course .

Of course, it's not like the MCU doesn't have sidekicks for their heroes, although they're more often then not fully-formed adults by the time their paired with their respective hero. But that's always been more of a Marvel thing compared to DC...

It would be interesting to see a modern comic book movie that focused on the lead hero mentoring a younger protege/partner. We got some of that in Ant-Man with Hank and Scott, but Scott was still the lead character and the main Ant-Man :ack:.

Not many, but...Bucky? Rhodey? And if we delve into the comic-book history of Marvel we can turn up a few more.

I think Arrow handled Speedy/Arsenal/Red Arrow well enough. Then, that's a tv series.
