Reeves' meaning isn't entirely clear. The Batman might be a stand-alone film in the sense that it has no direct connection to the story of the Justice League movie(s), but it might still be set within the DCEU. That makes more sense in the context of Affleck's involvement.

Yeah, we are well aware what franchise connectivity is like. However, it could easily end up that through the Flashpoint this is a complete reboot. It could simply be that, yes this will not feature any connection to the other films. So what of Wonder Woman? Will they fail to mention Superman? Lotta questions.

At this point I think WB just needs a good PR person for the DCEU and to do a better job of announcing what their plans are, because there's just a lot of confusion going around right now .

So that previously rumored Joker and Harley Quinn movie? It's real.

It seems it's replacing Gotham City Sirens.

So far, at least, it seems as though Gotham City Sirens is still moving forward.

That is not conclusive evidence that it is. Yes, Ayer says it is, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Another option for WB - if they want to have other universes with their DCEU, why don't they just make movies from Vertigo or Wildstorm? Seriously, aren't there people in the movie business that get paid much more than I'll ever make in my life to come up with simple basic common sense ideas or suggestions like that?

A (hopefully superior to the TV show) adaptation of Preacher comes to mind. There's also that Sandman movie we've kept hearing about for the past 20 years.

Well, no; that is why I qualified my statement. It was not meant to be a definitive answer.

That being said, he might not be in the actual Joker movie :p.

If they're not rushing Darkseid then that definitely gives them more opportunity to establish and build on the Fourth World mythology in the DCEU ;).

It'll be interesting to see exactly which one gets their first. The Fourth World or Marvel's Eternals.

My take on that is "we're comfortable throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks" :p.

I'm certainly comfortable with standalone films, which is a return to form for DC. I wouldn't mind those film rumors from before the DCEU, to come to light.

I could agree with you more easily if so many of those previous films had not been god-awful (Steel; Catwoman; Return of the Swamp Thing; etc.). Neither did some of those unproduced movies (a PG Lobo; a future-war take on Sgt. Rock; Superman Lives with Nick Cage) fill me with much confidence. :(
