I picked up Green Arrow and Grayson this week and these were two great comics. I like that while the Green Arrow issue was really tied into the main Futures End series it also provided a new coda to the Green Arrow series. The artwork was great. While I am curious to see how the new creative starts next month this issue right here was a nice send off for Green Arrow. Lemire did a great job giving us one more spin with GA and I love how that made Amiko the Green Arrow of the future. It makes sense. Of course also having Ollie's death faked will have implications on the main series. As for Grayson the backwards Memento-type storytelling was really nicely done and the last couple of pages were absolutely perfect. It looks like Grayson is going to be keeping this CIA spy status quo for a few years.

This week I picked up just Batman and Batgirl and both were pretty great reads with Batman being the better of the two. I like that in Batman it lightly ties to that story from Detective Comics #27 about Batman in the future. I think it's pretty interesting that Batman takes to cloning himself and the cameo by Bizarro is really appropriate given he had to go to LexCorp to try and get the materials. The art was alright but the story was just really excellent. The script was great. The scenes between Alfred and Batman were just perfect. As for Batgirl I think fans will love this one. Not only do they get to see Cass and Stephanie as Batgirl, but Luke Fox's little sister also takes up the mantle. While I never really took to Cassandra I really like Stephanie as Batgirl so it was great to see her back under the cowl. A good story and a nice fitting end to Simone's run.

The Batman & Robin one-shot was cool. Looks like that little kid we saw in Zero Year is going to possibly play a bigger role in the future, especially since he's a future sidekick. The art was fantastic and it even played on how Batman's body is pretty much falling apart but Bruce is determined to stick it out as Batman. It's a shame the costume redesigns have been just so terrible in the future Batman comics though. The two-parter between Wonder Woman and Superman/Wonder Woman were actually really good I thought and I love how in the finale Wonder Woman becomes the Goddess of Peace. It's actually something I'd like for them to do now since the warrior aspect of the character is getting increasingly overplayed. The art was nice in all of them, even the Bart Sears stuff who I haven't seen do a DC or Marvel comic in ages.

I wonder how much these future glimpses will really come to pass in the New 52? We have Batman going to extreme measures during the alluded to War that have led to a breaking of his ties with the other heroes and ruining his friendship with Superman. Not to mention how things have ended up for the other heroes, even if there has been some light at the end of their one-shots :ack:.

It would be depressing to think, and kinda take away any surprises, that such futures are all that is in store for the heroes of the DC universe :(.

Well, maybe they can still keep Aquaman's new costume and the Legion additions to JLU. Those I certainly wouldn't mind :D.

I thought the stand-out comics this week were Catwoman and Booster Gold. Booster Gold is a must-read for DC Comics readers looking for a taste of what's to come and what could happen to the future of the New 52 universe and other worlds in the multiverse. The implications here are pretty huge. I have to admit for the first time it felt like DC finally knows what they are doing and where this is all going. Catwoman was a cool one-off that shows us what its like when Selina has power. Honestly, I'm really interested to see how long DC holds his mob persona for Catwoman. it's a neat take and could actually become one of DC's more unique books. While I'm sure there were some weak books or flat-out bad comics I lucked out and managed to grab some really good issues during the month-long event.
