    Okay, here's the deal:

I've wanted to make a customized MUGEN game for a while now, and have finally gotten around to researching how to program such a thing (surprisingly easy, just really involved.)

But instead of just ripping already existing sprites and adding small details and color schemes, I want to start from scratch. I was thinking that it would be best if I use a Power Stone/ Street Fighter Alpha mix of designs, since the choice of characters I want to use span a wide range of styles.

I'm just using characters that I like for now, but the current roster is:

    1.)

    Rude [Final Fantasy VII]

Stage Theme: "Dear Friend" [FFVII: Before Crisis OST]

Finishing Move: Aerial Strike [Description: Rude calls in a Turk Helicopter to rain a stream of ammo from above at the opponent, similar to what Tseng does in Crisis Core]

    2.)

    Cid Highwind [Final Fantasy VII]

Stage Theme: ??? [Probably something also from the Before Crisis OST, since I haven't found a remix of his theme that really fits the game]

Finishing Move: Shera [Similar to Rude's finisher, and exactly like Cid's Highwind Limit Break from FFVII, except it's the Shera that bombs the opponent]

    3.)

    Kamina [Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann]

Stage Theme: "Omae no XXX de Ten wo Tsuke!" [Gurren Lagann OST] <---This will be friggin' godly!

Finishing Move: Giga Drill Breaker [After Kamina hops onto Gurren Lagann's hand and enters the mecha, the bot uses the same move as seen in the series (complete with manly attack bellow)]

    4.)

    Drake Anderson [Read or Die]

Stage Theme: "Bring All the Wisdom to Great Britain!" [Read or Die OVA OST]

    Finishing Move: Not sure yet, but he will probably have something out of the traditional brawler category. It's hard keeping the characters' fighting moves evenly matched. -_-;

    5.)

    Yumiko Readman [Read or Die]

Stage Theme: "Those Who Insanely Love Books Say..." [Read or Die OVA OST]

Finishing Move: Not sure either, but there's so many things you can do with telekinetic paper...

    6.) Jet Black [Cowboy Bebop]

Stage Theme: "Car 24" [Cowboy Bebop OST] (Ever heard it? It's upbeat, but still awesome)

Finishing Move: Since he's yet another gun wielder/ brawler, probably something to do with his airship. Dunno yet.

That's what I've got so far. Sorry I don't have sound clips of the tracks yet.

Would you be able to have the characters you've drawn fight against characters from other games (like Homer Simpson or a ninja turtle or something)? Just curious. I don't know much about how mugen games work, but I've seen a few videos of random characters fighting each other. I love that you are using your own art. That's a really great idea. Rude looks like he'll fit perfectly. I can't wait to see the art you're going to come up with for the finishing moves you described.

I've got some other characters, but I'd like to work on some better images of them and will put them up later

Those look pretty sweet so far. If you draw dangerous girls, then I'm so there. :D

Can't wait to see these fleshed out!

So I noticed my original Cid sculpey sculpture has been lying on the top shelf of my closet, unbaked for a good two years now. It was a good prototype anyways, and I wasn't really satisfied with it because the side demensions weren't making sense to me. His baggy pants were hard to sculpt too, making his legs difficult to make proportionally.

So I'm starting over and working with smaller demensions, maybe 5-6 inch figures. Also, before I start anything I want to make model sheets of whatever I sculpt, so that I will know what will give me problems and what will work. If it doesn't look right on paper, I'm not going to sculpt it until it does.

And I can say that I'm going to have to change his stance again somewhat, because I can already tell that he's gonna fall backwards. :p

    EDIT:

7000th post, and it was spent on something artsy. I'm so proud of me!

Pretty cool. I still like the perspective. Squall is probably one of my favorite FF protagonists and I actually preferred FFVIII over FFVII (though I enjoyed Tifa more than Riona, go figure).

I can't believe I've gone this long without making Killer Bee fanart. What a crime.

Can't wait until he finally makes the roster in a Naruto fighter.

I also have the small square space on the digi-tablet to contend with, but if I draw at 100% view or smaller, it helps

Oooo I like Celes. I think your use of this 'illustration' style is pretty good. As we can see by the guidelines, you have a firm grasp on what makes this style work, the illusion of simplicity. I love her hair and your playing with line weights. Awesome job!

    Thanks :)

    Yeah, I think minimal is pretty much my style now, even though I try to put a lot of detail in my work I keep streamlining it. ^^;

I tried sketching this one last night in digital, but I lost too much control in what I wanted to create. Sketching a rough in digital makes for excellent layouts though. I can never draw multiple characters in a single page, so what I'm doing now for the first time (I've always wanted to do this) is sketch one character on an 8X13," scan it in, and make a group shot.

Edgar's gonna be behind Sabin, Celes is next to Terra. I'm going to try to fit the whole cast in the scene. (Shadow, Cyan, Relm, etc.)

I'm excited to finish this! I've never sketched group shots before.

Reminds me of what they did with the Romulans for the new Star Trek movie. No offense intended whatsoever. Just sayin'. ;)

First time drawing Edward Elric...without any visual reference whatsoever! (sketched completely in MangaStudio Debut, quick-colored in Photoshop)

I...don't know how his trench coat is sticking to him!
