Hope they use the Fusionfall designs and that they use The RRB, Megas XLR, TOM, My gym partner is a monkey, and Cow and Chicken and have a major Boss. Hope they don't try a power stone feel to the game
A brawler? Hopefully it'll play smoothly because brawlers that aren't Smash Bros. or Power Stone tend to play poorly.
Well nice to hear Samurai Jack and PPG will be in it among other previously cancelled CN originals but since Ben 10 Ultimate Alien (though that could just have meant Ben 10 as a franchise) it'd be a shame if Generator Rex, Adventure Time and Sym-Bionic Titan didn't make the roster (I'm all for Regular Show and Robotomy representation as well). I'm holding out a lot of hope for Megas because Megas being left out of a BRAWLER is just wrong. TOM would be totally awesome but I wouldn't count on him showing up despite his cameo in Fusion Fall. I also hope Secret Saturdays isn't overlooked. At least including Zak would be nice.
So will the game be in 3D then?
On the 3DS, I suppose it would be.
If it's a brawler, why exclude Adventure Time? Finn's mad skills & Jake's powers would be a perfect fit. Bias towards old shows much?
No I wouldn't suspect a bias toward old shows given Chowder, Flapjack and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien are in it. Just because they didn't announce Finn and Jake yet doesn't mean they wont be in it.
Though I do wonder if co-ownership could cause some of the CN original shows not to be represented in this.
Do we have any confirmation that the "not" in "not Adventure Time" isn't a typo? It seems a bit much to mention the show by name if none of the characters will be playable.
The not in this case isn't a typo but that's not PR that's a post from Joystiq and they're assuming Adventure Time has no reps because it wasn't mention in the PR.
Well going off the franchises that are assured...
- Ben (teen - has two or three UA aliens)
- Ben (kid - has two or three original series aliens)
Codename: Kids Next Door
- Numbuh One
- Numbuh Two
- Numbuh Four
- Numbuh Five
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - Mac and Bloo
- Mac and Bloo
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
- Captain K'Nuckles
The PowerPuff Girls
Maybe less reps than 4 reps for each but I figured since Ben 10 could easily have 4 maybe some other franchises would get 4 as well.
I could easily see them include Finn and Jake, Rex, MEGAS, Titan, Zak Saturday, Courage, Johnny Bravo, Super Cow and a number of villains from these various cartoons but I doubt the roster will be particularly large.
If they went all out on this game something like this would be pretty awesome.
Mac and Bloo
Jeff the Spider
Coop and Jamie in MEGAS
Lance, Illana and Octus as Sym-Bionic Titan or possibly each individual as well as Titan
Finn and Jake
Mordecai and Rigby
The Red Guy
TOM 3.0 (or 2.0)
But to narrow it down to a small roster will good variety and my heavily desired to be in the game characters.
#3) Numbuh One
#4) Numbuh Five
#7) Johnny Bravo
#8) Mac and Bloo
#10) Zak Saturday
#11) Finn and Jake
#12) Mordecai and Rigby
#21) Sym-Bionic Titan
#25) Super Cow
#26) TOM 3.0
Some certainly more likely than others but I'd be thrilled to see at least most of them make the cut.
What about Boomer,Brick and Butch, Red Guy, Stinkmeaner, Boogie man and Father, Dial M Monkey and the Justice friends and of course Mandark
I really hope they put Rex in it. I've been wanting a Generator Rex game for a while now and for it to be in 3D would be so awesome! Especially if Agent Six was also in it!
The Rowdyruff Biys are just the PPGs with a Y chromosome. If you have Blossum, Buttercup and Bubbles, you don't need the RRBs.
Stinkmeaner - No. CN wouldn't use a character from an Adult Swim show for a Cartoon Network game. The Boondocks isn't technically a CN show, and it's definitely not a childrens' franchise.
The Justice Friends seem iffy since they're all basically paradodies of established DC and Marvel comics characters.
Andrew already listed Mandark.
As fighting characters, anyone from an action cartoon will work, and I'd limit it to just one or two characters from each series, with the exception of Ben 10, since it's CN's biggest shows.
When it comes to character's being in a fighting game, people need to ask this to themselves before they start listing their favorite character to be in the roster:
How will they fight?
It's weird how they specifically said not Adventure Time. Normally, they wouldn't bother to say anything at all.
People are reading into the "not Adventure Time" too much. The press release doesn't mention Adventure Time. Only a news blurb on a site that's going off of the press release.
I totally agree with considering "how they would fight" though it's a given there will be some odd choices in the bunch. I mean Flapjack and K'Nuckles may be adventures but they're not really fighters, nor is Chowder but he has fought before I believe.
Ben, Gwen, Kevin, Grim, the PPG's, Jack, any of the KNDs and Dexter are characters you can easily see in a fighting game. Finn and Jake absolutely should be in it but if they aren't then hope for a sequel I guess as well as Mordecai and Rigby and some representative from Robotomy.
Action cartoons characters and their villians are obvious choices but other CN original characters known for a bit of fighting prowess would include Johnny Bravo (though he usually loses fights) and if possible at least Major Glory and Monkey among Dexter's universe of characters but others have mentioned why they might not make the cut. Juniper Lee is technically an actiony show but I'll just bring that one up anyway.
Another potential downer, no giant robots is a likely possiblity which means no Titan and no MEGAS but potentially characters from those series could be present. Lance, Octus and Kiva are great choices for fighting games they might be willing to include Coop for a gag (fighting with wrenches and video game devices) and Illana's armor might be small enough to not count as a giant robot. Wouldn't be surprised if some of Ben's bigger aliens don't make the cut and he probably will transform but only into a few of them.
Rest assured the roster will be disappointing because cross-over fighting games usually have disappointing rosters.
Sheesh, it's like Brawl and TMNT Smash-Up all over again.
Rowdyruff boys: I don't care I want 'em anyway.
Stinkmeaner: I was just joking
Johnny Bravo:Absolutely He can be the games Dan Hibiki
How about Hoss Delgado, Irwin and Underfist?
Eh, there wouldn't be much point in putting the RRBs in the game since they'd fight exactly like the Powerpuff Girls. They'd just be clones taking up slots which could easily be given to other CN characters. Since this isn't just a PPG game, my guess is that the developers don't want there to be too many characters from one show, so the RRBs aren't needed, especially since there wouldn't be any variety in their attacks. They'd just be pallate swaps. I don't see much point in there being 6 characters with the same move set. I'd rather have a variety.
Heck, the Girls are enough alike as it is; truth be told, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have each of the Girls themselves occupy 3 slots. It would make more sense to just have 1 selectable Powerpuff (say, Blossom), while the other 2 serve as strikers/assists.
It's probably going to be terrible. But what the heck, making a possible roster is too fun to pass up, even if I'm adding shows I don't like. Keeping to three character per franchise limit.
1: Powerpuff Girls (Blossom as main, Buttercup and Bubbles as strikers)
2: Mojo Jojo
1: Kid Ben
2: Teenage Gwen
3: Original Series Vilgax
1: Numbuh 1
2: Numbuh 5
Ed, Edd, n' Eddy:
1: The Eds (Eddy as main, Ed and Double D as strikers)
1: Ilana (As Corus)
2: Lance (As Manus)
1: Rex (With Bobo and Six as strikers)
2: Breach (With Biowulf and Skalamander as strikers)
3: Von Kleiss
1: Mordecai and Rigby (Rigby as striker)
1: Finn and Jake (Finn as main, Jake as a striker)
3: The Lich King
2: Captain K'nuckles
Billy and Mandy
1: Grim (Billy and Mandy as strikers)
2: Hoss Delgado
2: The Scotsman
3: Aku (Final Boss, unplayable)
1: Alternate Dimension Coop (Penultimate boss, unplayable)
Whatever Happened to Robot Jones?
1: Robot Jones (Secret boss ala Akuma from Street Fighter, unplayable)
I thought that there was a thread over in the VG Board about it, unless this is an entirely different game from that announcement. I still don't have high hopes for it, considering it's coming from Crave, and considering that I have yet to played a game from them that I liked, I'll await the reviews for this one.
Just checked, and from what I can gather from the news article and the press release, this is the same game that was brought up in the VG board.
Anyone else missing from this CN fighting game?
Doesn't Cartoon Network already have Titanic KungFuBot Offensive (TKO) on their website? This newer fighting game is more of a Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl type of thing if you ask me.
This game lacks a lot of CN Superstars including:
Cheese- A popular reoccuring character from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, the game needs more funny guys in there.
Fred FredBurger- Why was this guy left out of this fighting game? He's just as popular as Cheese is, but with more of a humourous edge.
Mung Daal- If Flapjack's going to be in this brawl with Cap'n Knuckles, Chowder should have brought Mung Daal along as well.
Benson the Gumball Machine- Mordecai and Rigby's gumball machine of a boss needs some recognition showing the others who's boss.
Van Halen and The Infraggable Kronk- If Major Glory's going to be in this fighting game, why not bring his allies from the Justice Friends skit of Dexter's Laboratory? That'd be fair and reasonable if that happened.
Chicken- [Super] Cow can't be in the game all by herself, it'd be a lot more fair if Chicken from Cow and Chicken became part of this game.
I could go on and on with Cartoon Network Superstars that no one has mentioned, but I didn't want to bore you guys here. I'm just giving my opinion on other CN characters that should be in the game, that's all.
Well, let's keep in mind that this is going to be a fighting game. Sure, there are many Cartoon Network characters who could conceivably be included in the lineup, but like Andrew T. Hingson said earlier, you must first ask yourself "...But can he/she fight?"
I really don't see the likes of Cheese or Irwin working effectively in a fighting game scenario. My lineup would go something like this:
Aku (Could be an end level boss)
Dexter (Dee-Dee could be a striker)
Cow & Chicken
Cow (with selectable Super Cow mode)
Red Guy (Chicken could be a striker, since he's not a fighter)
The Powerpuff Girls
Blossom (Buttercup and Bubbles could be strikers)
Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy
Ed (Eddy and Double D could be strikers, since Edd's not a fighter and Eddy typically gets others to do his work for him)
Coop (could have some tool based attacks)
Jamie could possibly be a striker, since he's not a fighter and typically runs from danger.
