Previously on Soul Eater: The good guys lose again and Medusa has Brew. DWMA had better get some s**t done in the next 15 episodes.

That is one funky Rubik's cube..

Just like COBRA. Everyone in charge argues with each other.

What does that sun find so funny?

I wouldn't say that. You seven banded together in the face of a common enemy.
Trust me, my alma matter has a crappy football team. Just take your wins when and where you can get them.

How does he hold a mug that small with hands that big?

    Death is such a troll

Wait, is it Djinns or Genies that are evil? Or both?

Aww, Maka's following in her mother's footsteps.

    ......Where is her mother anyway?

Oh, hey Crona. You haven't been performing any heinous acts of betrayal while we've been gone, have you?

I can't help but think that Death was being a tad condescending there.

    Thought he'd NEVER shut up.

"You should eat, you're looking pale."
But I thought that was how he ALWAYS looked.

"What?! You mean me putting that evil snake in Marie's coffee had negative consequences?!"

"It's not there. Don't you get it? It's not there!"

    What, your mind?

Now the guilt complex has set in for Crona.

And I thought Vegeta was going crazy seeing Ghost Nappa.

The voices in my head tell me I'm fine. Why shouldn't I be?

Who do dat Brew do dat you do so well?

What did the genies ever do to you? All they're doing is granting people wishes! Is that so wrong?

In the original Japanese, Soul said the training was only for manga/anime heroes.

Silly Maka. Genie Hunter only activates when the plot needs it to.

Hell, not to mention they're slaves. Way to kick someone when they're down.

Thanks, Crona. May this weigh heavy on your conscience.

Probably either through hard work and dedication or the next time you fight someone as strong as Mosquito.

Right and wrong are just words. What matters is what you do.

Okay, are we seriously having a philosophical debate with the crazy person?

Technical Advisor? Well, now we're saved.

I thought that this episode was okay. Death seemed to be bad at trying to avoid answering those questions and I also kind of got the impression that he was condescending in his talk with Maka, or at least he was overly praising her. I guess that her mother is dead given that Death referred to her in the past tense. I was glad to see that we got back into Crona's subplot since that was actually interesting. I felt bad that he was consumed with so much guilt, but that was to be expected once he realized what he had done. I would have preferred more focus on that, but Kid trying to uncover the truth was okay. I kind of liked the philosophical debate he had with Stein, even though having such a discussion with someone clearly losing their mind wasn't really the smartest choice he could have made. Maka not being able to use Genie Hunter wasn't surprising. It will probably come back when the plot needs it and/or when Soul plays his piano again. Overall, it was an okay episode.

Checking Arbaic myth quickly, yes there are evil Djinn. Considering how powerful some Djinn are, even the good ones are considered a danger.

Okay for a set-up episode, but why would Kid ask someone who is obviously not well all these important questions?
