EPISODE 209: Round 1! One Lap of the Donut Race!

    LAST WEEK ON ONE PIECE...

A new villain, Foxy, shot Tonjit's hoooooooooorse. Luffy wants to kick Foxy's ass, but Foxy will only fight Luffy in a sports competition known as the Davy Back Fight, with the fates of their respective crews on the line.

    THIS WEEK ON ONE PIECE...

The first round of Davy Back Fight involves a race around the island with tiny boats.

Previously on One Piece: Luffy agrees to a Davy Back Fight. Who says being a pirate isn't all fun and games?

The Jolly Roger has been sighted!

I missed an episode, and now I am even more confused.

Nami: "No, they're going take me because I'm the cute one." :(

Ok, that got a chuckle out of me :D

Dude, does the illustrator know anything about human proportions?!

We go from one competition in Naruto to one in this series.

Looks like the two weakest fighters in the Strawhats have the two biggest egos.

    "What the h***!"

Well, I never thought to hear that on One Piece.

Fishman? Are Deep One's in this show now?

It's Death Race on the seas! Or maybe Mario Karts transformed into boats.

"I'm not a professional shipwright, OK!"

Always good to have that disclaimer before going out on a macguyvered ship.

One Piece has a very cartoon-ish style.

Too bad they didn't have Franky to help them out at this point. Oops, I've said too much.

Huh. I don't recall their being multiple racers in the manga. It was just a two-team match.

That doesn't excuse every other pubescent female character (with few exceptions) having similar faces, big knockers and super skinny torsos. Don't get me wrong,I like the art style in One Piece but this sort of thing gets more obvious later on. Even the One Piece Podcast crew mentioned it several times on their show.

    OW!! That's NOT super!!

To be honest, I wish more anime was like this. I've really been amused by what I've seen so far.

Hey let's not bad mouth the females. After 30 minutes of Sakura and Ino, they are a plessure. Speaking of which, do we ever get to see Porche without her mask?, I really wonder what she looks like, I think there is cute girl under that mask.

No, Naruto at least get's the proportions right. One Piece seems to be going for bodies out of a German Dada photomontage.

Oh, show just got back on!

Is it me, or does the announcer sound like a Numemon from Digimon?

    Let me guess.. trap.

    Arms? What?

Ok, I guess there's a snail variant of a Numemon being commentator.

Ah, f they only had the Mythbusters around they could have made better boats.
