The final Toonami before Adult Swim's expansion contains the beginning of some confrontation versus a pair of Akatsuki we were introduced to in Part 1: Kisame and Itachi.

Time for some decent episodes, finally. If only the animation was better...

Animation picks up in the mid-20's. Right now Shippuden's suffering because it's still stuck with the budget the final episodes of original Naruto had, which was . . . nothing, basically. Animation will pick up again after episode 54 and then picks up one more time at episode 72, where it settles into a steady rhythm of episodes switching from mediocrity to good to superb right until the most recent episodes, really. Even the worst animated episodes of 72+ are better than what we have now.

Well, for the most part. I am sure there's still some bad apples in there visually, I just don't remember them.

Last time: Kisame and Might Guy meet again, except the latter doesn't remember the former. And Itachi reappears.

    This time: New combat technique?

Previously on Shippuden: Lots of running and exposition, and then Akatsuki heads off Team Naruto and Lee

Sorry Kisame, but Arlong's still a better fishman than you.

Kisame just barfed up a tidal wave. Still trying to figure out how that works.

So two are better than one. Nice exposition for something that is essentially just common sense.

Why hasn't Itachi done something yet?

Even Tenten is wondering that. Weird.

Kind of like anime time in general.

So far, Team Guy's getting the action while Team Kakashi gets exposition.

Hell if I know. I was being sarcastic. Look it up.

Hmm, I wonder if sunglasses would block the Sharingan.

    Stop announcing your plans, Idiots!

I think Tenten is pretty much a proxy for the audience.

Whoa! Wait, whoa! Something's actually happening?!

    It's ALWAYS a clone!

Tenten and Lee may be the only reason I'm still watching this episode.

    "Leave her alone, you SWINE!"

Man, can you imagine how the ending of ALIENS would play out if Ripley said that?
