    Episode 70: "Guts × And × Courage"
    Chapters adapted: 163-166
    Corresponding 1999 episode: 85

    Last time...

Recruiting Tsezguerra for their team, Gon and his friends had a rematch with Razor. Winning against four of his sports (one on a technicality as the NPC for sumo was killed after he began to go off-script), Razor decided to mix it up with an 8v8 game of dodgeball, with the winning team being the overall winner. Eliminating his own NPCs, Razor used one of his powers to create seven men out of Nen (his “Devils”), while Goreinu created two apes out of Nen to replace the members of their team who bailed.

After an explanation of the rules of the game, the match started. Razor freely gave the ball to Gon's group, making Killua tap the ball to Goreinu, who immediately attacked one of Razor's devils and continued to attack, bringing down two opponents. Goreinu tried to throw the ball directly to Razor, but it was stopped by using only one hand. Razor controlled the ball now and threw it towards Goreinu. Goreinu, who could feel the immense power of Razor throws, switched places with his ape and it was demolished by the attack. Razor continued to attack, this time involving his Devils by passing the ball fast to one another. Gon's team prepared for the attack, but because of the speed, Tsezguerra was hit on his back and was severely injured. After hitting Tsezguerra, the ball rebounded and landed in Killua's hands, who noticed that it was very heavy, and compared it to a bowling ball. Tsezguerra managed to avoid a lethal blow by putting aura on his back, but he was still severely injured and couldn't walk straight, going to the sideline to watch the game.

Once the game resumes, Hisoka wanted the ball from Killua and immediately attacked an opponent by using his Bungee gum. Killua realized the advantage of Hisoka's Bungee gum, so they decided to take out the remaining Devils and leave Razor for last. Hisoka started to attack, but before the ball hit the opponent, 2 Devils merged into 1 and caught the ball. Hisoka let the ball go, realizing that the Devil was too strong. Once Razor prepared to attack Gon, Killua used Ken. Razor stated they won't die depending on what area they'll get hit, then fired at Gon. Gon prepared, putting his fists to his forehead to block Razor's attack, but it sent him flying all the way through the wall. Immediately getting up and seeming to be okay, Gon was now fired up even more.

    This time…
Teaming up with Tsezguerra, Gon and his team challenge Razor for a rematch.

Even though the animation wasn't as good as usual, still a really solid episode.

It's a good thing that Killua has a high tolerance for pain, Meanwhile, gorilla guy ended up being useless after all his tough talk. Ah well.

It's a good thing that they're "only" playing a sport with Razor; I assume that he'd be a beast in a straight fight.

I thought that this episode was pretty good. The dodge ball fight was pretty intense. I didn't think that Gon was out of the match, but he was pushed outside the field. I also didn't think that Biscuit's clothes being torn would mean that she was out, but at least that gave Gon an opening to get back into the game. This match gave Gon the opportunity to try out more of his special move based on rock, paper, scissors and it was really impressive.

Killua's hands were damaged a lot more than I expected. I just figured that he was able to protect his hands, but their explanation as to why he couldn't do that made sense. Gon saying that only Killua could hold the ball for him was rather sweet. It showed how much trust and faith Gon has in Killua. Even with the damage of their attack, being able to make it work again would be difficult. Overall, it was a pretty good episode.
