I've changed this to a "pre-discussion" if you will. There is news now and that's fine, but the upfronts work a bit better when each network gets their own thread rather than clustering them all together and that is what we will continue to do as each network does their presentation and the press release comes out.

I'm glad to see the rare opportunity for these shows to go out proper at the very least. However it saddens me to see Community cancelled after a next short season but The Office still apparently chug forward into the never. Heck at this point I would have much rather had another season of House than The Office, not that they share a network.

I want a better source than this. NBC would be suicidal to just completely clean house and start over. Community has at least one full season left because Sony will strong-arm them into producing enough episodes for syndication (it's what Sony does, even if the show isn't a hit -- see 'Til Death).

This better not be true, anyway. If it is I'm going to weep like a baby.

I'm excited Law & Order: SVU got picked up for a 14th season. That's about all I'm looking forward to at the moment from NBC.

I'm mostly on pins and needles about CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. CSI already got renewed and those two shows are on the bubble, and one or both of them might get axed.

I'm also curious as to how The Secret Circle might do.

I'm not certain if I'm a fan of how that article is written. I caught up on Community's "status" via The AV Club (
NBC renews Community for 13-episode fourth season) which does a better job of presenting the precarious nature of the series. The AV Club at least makes it seem like there is still hope.

The two shows I've been most worried about were renewed today with full 22 episode orders: Nikita and Hart of Dixie. With that, all my CW shows will be returning in the fall, plus a few new ones I'll be checking out (Arrow and Cult at the very least), since Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries were renewed last week. Hooray!

This is likely to mean Nikita will get a fourth season, too, for syndication purposes. *happy dance*

The CW canceled Ringer and The Secret Circle. I didn't make it past the Ringer pilot and dropped TSC after three episodes.

Good gravy, TSC was disappointing. Make a show about magic teens and then don't put any magic in it. That makes sense. Just have them stand around and occasionally move a cell phone with their minds. Great idea. Bye.

I'm really surprised (and pleased) by Nikita, though -- I'm pretty much the only person watching that.

I've been worried about Nikita for months since its ratings are pretty low, but it's in my top three favorite shows on TV right now so I couldn't be happier to see it back. I'd heard rumors the CW bubble shows might be getting half-season orders, but I'm thrilled to see a full season of the dysfunctional spy family :)

I read earlier CBS canceled A Gifted Man. Argh! Really enjoyed it. Not much for medical dramas, but I was really liking it just because of Patrick Wilson. Have still not read anything about Unforgettable being renewed or canceled, so hoping for the former. Everything else I watch I know is safe already.

There were many times where I was tempted to ditch The Secret Circle. The stories in the episodes got confusing in many of the earlier episodes, and it wasn't until about the third or fourth to last episode that the plot really started to pick up for me.

From what I understand, it had some decent ratings, but just wasn't big among its REAL target audience, which would be teenagers.

That's the only recent CBS cancellation, yes? I've mentioned CSI: Miami and CSI: NY possibly getting axed, and they still haven't said anything about those yet, although that may be a good sign. CSI: NY ended for the season only today, and CSI: Miami had an early season ending last month, so perhaps we might see something about those two pretty soon. I don't mind them canceling CSI: NY though. The season finale didn't leave anything open, so it would even be satisfying as an absolute final episode of the whole series. CSI: Miami kind of left one thing open, but at least it didn't end on a cliffhanger.

I haven't read anything about the CSIs.

And now CBS cancels Unforgettable, too. Both of my favorite new shows last season -- this and A Gifted Man -- now gone. ARGH!!

CSI: Miami is gone, CSI: New York has been renewed, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

CBS also picked up the Americanized Sherlock series, Elementary, which I am very meh about.

Meanwhile, NBC announced its fall schedule.

I really want to see the new Kripke/Abrams series, Revolution, but it's on at the same time as Castle and Hawaii Five-0. Sigh.

    Ha!
Community and Whitney are off on their own together.
The show that's brilliant at parodying television right next to the show with the worst sit-commy acting I've seen in years.

Lately I've been feeling like NBC has been wasting too much of my time with a solid three hours on Thursdays that I want to watch. Four comedies that I like without even giving me a break by scheduling something in the middle there to make me turn off the tv.
And now they have Awake there at the end, one of the three hour long dramas I watch.
    It's been harsh.
Thank goodness for a new fall scheduled to fix that pesky Thursday night again.

I haven't seen anything about Awake there. I hope it's able to hang on some how.

I don't even bother reading the full descriptions of new NBC sitcoms anymore. Although I am surprised two of them from this year got renewed.

I know, I ended up just sticking with Castle, favoring mystery over a cop show.
I'm interested in Revolution though. I just hope it's better then that dinosaur family cop show or I'm not going to bother with it.

Elementary has to be one of the most staggeringly-blatant TV rip-offs ever. Yet, I will be compelled to watch at least the premiere to see what it's like, and I'm curious about Johnny Lee Miller as Sherlock. (Although Lucy Liu as Watson is already a huge turn-off and just reeks of "look at us, look at us!")

    It was canceled.

I have a lot of thoughts about Elementary and none of them are pleasant. I'll probably check out the pilot as well, but, particularly as a fan of Sherlock, I'm not happy.

Wow, they put it on Fridays, with Whitney.

And not even before Whitney -- they put it AFTER Whitney.

It's like keeping a condemned prisoner alive just so you can kick him in the face over and over.

It's too bad it had to be Miami. They've got one villain still at large while CSI: NY's loose ends were all but resolved.

Now that CSI: NY has gotten renewed for a ninth season, I get the feeling that there will be talk next year about how it's very close to being canceled, and it gets renewed for a tenth season. Then the cycle would go on for a few more years. It was close to getting canceled last year too, and that's why the season finale was designed to serve as a potential series finale just in case it didn't get renewed. The same thing happened with this season.

Now that only two of the three CSIs will be returning, I'm thinking they should just have them both go for one more season and end them right there.

Anyway, I now know that the shows I can look forward to seeing return this fall are The Simpsons, Mike and Molly, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and CSI: NY. R.I.P. The Secret Circle and CSI: Miami.
