Creed was one of the best movies of last year, perfect choice. He may be the best Marvel director so far.

I agree, Creed was great. This news kinda has me torn, cause MGM has the Creed sequel planned, and I can't imagine it without Coogler.

I also have well wishes for Coogler, but doing a Marvel can only be good on his resume. Unlike Sony or Fox bullying the neophyte director.

To be fair with Marvel you still have to be willing to "play ball" and kind of be more opening to sharing your artistic vision. Though obviously Whedon had a lot of passion even with the Avengers sequel it's clear he was also sort of forced to do things in it he didn't want which led to him having issues with Marvel. And that's also probably why Ava DuVernay when offered the part declined. Like I said before though pretty obvious with Creed, Ryan Coogler's someone a bit more willing to bend and not to have as heavy a "as director I control all aspects of the production" train of thought and yeah that movie most definitely showed he can handle such large scale products so yeah I'm all for this. Even more then before I saw Creed which again is one of my favorites movie of 2015 and Black Panther will be for 2018 if he puts that level of dedication to it. Also makes me even more curious how Panther will go especially with it being the one to push to the Infinity War and what not.

Really happy to finally have a confirmed director for Black Panther :D.

I saw Coogler on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah promoting Creed and he seems like a really cool dude, so glad to have him aboard :).

Interesting that he's also from Marvel's writing program...I believe the writer who helped develop the Guardians of the Galaxy plot before Gunn came in also came from said program :).

Also interesting to hear about their still being in the development phase and what they're taking into account in terms of what's going on in the world right now and African culture while developing the story and Wakanda. Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out ;).

Yeah, it might be interesting if they take into account child soldiers and Boko Haram. Show us the political infrastructure of how Wakanda is affected of these issues, or the lack of influence. Something that films like Iron Man and CA: Winter Soldier did was deal with real issues mixed with the fantastic.

Coogler will be co-writing the script, which is good news. His writing on his previous two movies was very strong.

Feige says we should also be getting some casting news for the other roles by the end of the Summer.

That's good news. Really, we only have Boseman and Serkis. Although Ernie Hudson was rumored for the father role.

I think it's probably going to be a reworked version of Monica Lynne, who's the closest thing T'Challa has to a major love interest outside Storm.

It would be interesting if they make the love interest a Dora, or an actual part of Wakanda, so definitely curious to see what they do their...
