Berlanti doesn't think a crossover with the CW shows will happen.

But consider he said the same thing about Supergirl at one point. So expect CW to absorb Black Lightning into its multiverse after season one finishes and FOX dumps it. :p

Did I hear something about his daughters being involved?

The original plot summary mentioned his "daughter hell-bent on justice," so I imagine that's probably Anissa ;).

Great, I hope that means more LGBT representation in DCTV.

Let's see. This will give Berlanti a grand total of 7 shows on 3 networks, assuming Blindspot is renewed on NBC, and Riverdale likewise on CW for next year, though I can't say I'm enthused about the latter.

BTW, Penguin, no thread for Riverdale? No interest?

While Riverdale is a comic-book show, it's not a DC show so it doesn't belong in this forum.

I realize, but since Penguin also posts to the Entertainment Board, I didn't see a thread for Riverdale there, and thought to ask him here, just for kicks.

Not surprising, though this gives the show a chance to really kick off on the CW or another network. :) Go Black Lightning!
Or it could take place on another Earth like Supergirl. I'd rather the Arrowverse not get too bloated, especially since the creative teams are being spread thin across the various animated and live-action shows.

Of course it's possible they'll just add this as another Arrowverse show; who knows? ;)

I had a feeling this would happen, especially given the precedent with Supergirl, though I'm just really curious to see how the CW is going to fit this into their schedule .

It'd be interesting if Black Lightning's show ends up set in Earth-38 (Supergirl's Earth in the Arrowverse Multiverse)...

Well, I bet there is a way to do it. I'm personally not all that enthused about Black Lightning, as I much rather see Static.

2/2: Yeah, probably another universe. Could be a good fit in Supergirl's, too.

Maybe they should have set it in Suicide Slums when Jefferson Pierce was just a boy trying to survive in a dangerous city while almost all his villains are already adults and doing evil things under the guise that Inspector William Henderson is the star character.

2/3: CW issued the pilot order. It will be co-produced by Mara Brock Akil, Sarah Schechter, and Salim Akil andAkil is set to write.

It would be kind of amazing if the Arrowverse next year or the year after takes on a five-show crossover with Black Lightning joining the ranks :D.

We know that there is a Metropolis in Supergirl's Earth-38, so Black Lightning would be an easy fit there.
