Black Cat is an anime series based off the popular Shonen Jump manga by Kentaro Yabuki.
Twenty-four episodes were produced by animatinon studio Gonzo and aired in Japan from October 6, 2005 to March 30, 2006. It is licensed in North America by FUNimation Entertainment. It aired on the FUNimation Channel.
The manga version ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2000 to 2004 with 20 volumes. Viz Media published all 20 volumes in North America.

The series' main character is Train Heartnet, an "Eraser" (assasin) that works for the worldwide organization called Chronos. Chronos is in control of most of the world at the time of the series, although there existence is not public knowledge. The show begins with Train (known as Black Cat for the "bad luck" he brings to his victims) assassinating a gangster and having a run-in with Sven Vollfield, a "Sweeper" (bounty hunter) who had been trying to capture the same person for a reward. Train begins to have his doubts about Chronos after meeting Saya Minatsuki, another Sweeper. Meanwhile, Sven is hired to rescue a woman's little sister from a gang boss, only to learn that both the woman and the sister are not what they appear. Another plot thread revolves around the series antagonist Creed Diskenth, who raises an army known as the Apostles of the Star to destroy Chronos.
