As the GCPD prepares to make a major announcement, Sasha Bordeaux — Bruce Wayne’s bodyguard — sits in a maximum security penitentiary. Will she survive in a hellhole populated by some of America’s most dangerous women…including the deadly Cucilla? Plus, a backup story written by John Francis Moore with art by Stefano Gaudiano & Rick Hoberg introduces a new vigilante to the streets of Gotham. Can Batman handle the competition?

Changed the name of the thread to say summary instead of preview, and added a spoilers warning.

How is that a summary when it's telling you what the issue will be about?

    It's neither a summary or preview. It's a synopsis.

Synopsis has a better ring to it

The comic site and www.wwe.com both refers to these as previews

We really should take a vote on this :)

There's no need for a vote. DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, CrossGen Comics, Archie Comics, and Image Comics call them 'synopsis' so I think we should stick to that from now on. Personally, I think the 'with preview' tag is pretty useless becuase there's no real reason to mention them. I always add a synopsis but never mention. It makes the post look nicer to have the synopsis in there, done properly.. If you keep doing it, please use 'synopsis' instead of 'preview'.

    Now, back on topic, please...

    Sasha's DEAD!!!

Or might be. I was actually very surprised to find out she may potentially be dead. What a great twist to this whole Fugitive/Murder story. For those of you who didn't like Sasha or the idea of Bruce having a bodyguard, this may be music to your ears. I actually liked her character, yet I think it it makes an interesting story.

Well, technically, summary is a synonym for synopsis. :p

But I do agree that synopsis has a better ring to it - in fact, that's the word I was originally trying to think of when I changed the title, but I was drwing a complete blank at the time, so I went with summary. On that note, I've changed the title one last time to read "synopsis" instead of summary. Sorry for all the confusion.

Yeah, this twist shocked me as well, but after thinking about it, I'm 100% convinced that Sasha's not dead - she's just been taken to become a member of that secret government group that was checking her out in this issue.

How great was it when Alfred was telling Bruce what happened to Sasha in the Cave and he just methodically puts on the suit and cowl and tells Alfred that Sasha has no family and he takes off to investigate!!!

Bruce walking throughout The Manner - very somber - was very well drawn. The whole story had great facial expressions...
Bruce in the beginning w/his lawyer, then walking to the car.
His expressions as they drove away
Alfred with the always classic moments..."Master Bruce, Welcome Home" - Alfred rocks.

I really hope Sasha isn't dead, I really liked her character but man that would be a pretty shocking turn of events huh?!?!?!

Plus this whole Agent Midnight character and the secret government agent or agency known as Checkmate, who have been following Alesandra Taracon who dubbed as Cucilla when she got gassed during Joker Last Laugh. Pretty neat how they revisited the time when Huntress and Sasha put her away and have all the dirt apparently on the Bat-Squad or so it seems - will they figure out Bruce Wayne is Batman & cut a deal with Luthor with some "interesting" information?!? Man they could go anywhere with this...BUT I hope Sasha's not dead  !

Now THAT would be pretty wild!!! Think about it, then Batman would have his informant within the government to fill him in with all the dirt :p Maybe she could help Bats take them down!

They obviously know she was fighting crime as a masked vigilante and they know she was Bruce's bodyguard - I wonder if they try to put 2+2 together or if she covers for Bruce saying she was just working alone . OHH the possibilities!!! I'm really gonna miss Greg Rucka, although Ed Brubaker is pretty awesome!

It appears that I must kick start this thread. I felt this was a well written issue dispite the fact the character in the bat books I abhor above all makes her return. I guess we all knew this was going to happen and it did. I do like how this issue ended with Batman telling the Checkmate agent how the show will be run. Thoughts before I give out anymore?

    Curiouser and curiouser....

Who do you have the most???

I love this book - story is getting more and more interesting as it goes along. Not to sure about what or who this whole "Checkmate" group is - any history lesson here?

I hope you didn't hate Sasha - I really loved her character, don't know why, I just really took to her from the beginning when she was hired as Bruce's bodyguard by Lucious following NML. She's tough and presistant, and thought she would make a great "partner" with Bruce. However after reading 774 I really don't think Bruce has ANY romantic feelings towards Sasha what-so-ever. The exchange between Bruce and Alfred over Sasha was brilliant - classic stuff there. The way he said "she knows, she knows it all and I can't have that just walking around out there" - pretty powerfull !!! I Really want to see what the heck is gonna happen - obviously you know who that brown haired woman at the end of the story was. I hate that Rucka is leaving this book - I loved the artwork and coloring too - just great Batman. I guess this arc will finish up in the extra sized 775, Rucka's grand finale :( :(

Yes I hate Sasha. I don't think she has ever served any purpose other than getting in the way. She is annoying. She also stole the Huntress's costume design. Nothing about this character is likeable to me. I want to see her erased for good.

I just think the way she was brought back was kinda cheesy. But overall, the issue is good. I do not like the backup story at all though.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

"The Hunt" really isn't going anywhere yet, but it is supposed to lead into the new "Bat-family" 8 issue mini-series coming in November (I think its Nov.)
