I have a good feeling about this plus will this focus on either Barbara, Cassandra or Stephanie? It may likely be the former.

At least wait until April 1st WB. At least it'll give us a laugh.

Oh wow. I actually think is is really cool. Whedon is a really good fit for Batgirl.

That said...I'm starting to think that people's fears about WB playing it safe and greenlighting a lot of Batman related films wasn't so off the mark after all. Batman, Squad, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing.

I mean, Batman is the biggest money maker, to be fair... But either way, at the very least, I'm excited for this film.

I'm sure in the coming weeks we'll get an announcement for a Robin solo movie and and a Batman team-up movie at this point :p.

But, seriously, this sounds really cool and I'm happy to see the Batfamily getting some major promotion in live-action :D.

Though frankly, I can't say I'm surprised to see Warner Bros. greenlighting more Batman spinoffs to help bolster the DCEU, even if some of these seem to have more momentum to them then the other DCEU solo films (especially since they have confirmed directors/writers).

I think Whedon will be a good fit for this, especially since it seems like he'll get a majority of creative control on this movie compared to Age of Ultron. I also think, given the Batgirl for this is most likely going to be Barabra Gordon, that he'll be a good fit for the character :).

Now I'm starting to wonder if the Batman solo is going to set all of these spinoffs up to some degree....

Well, Affleck is pretty much out, so they won't be doing Batman sequels anytime soon. That's why they're doing spinoffs.

I'm in the minority when it comes to Joss Whedon. He's competent, that's the highest praise I'll give him. He's more than capable of making a good Batgirl movie. BUT, if WB is going to be over his shoulder telling him what to do so the movie is in sync with the rest of the shared universe, then I see no point of getting him to do it. I also wonder if the whole plan is to heavily promote his name in an attempt to "fool" audiences to think more positively about the DCU movies.

Or that he'll make appearances in said spin-offs.

Doubt it. If he can't wait to get out of his contract, they'll be recasting fairly soon after "The Batman".

Again with the recasting rumours. It can be possible for Batman to appear in those spin-offs. People need to realise that "Affleck wanting to get out of his contract and role being recast" are just speculation and rumours and that there have been no confirmation on such at all.

My pessimistic side is telling me that DC brought Whedon on board just because he did The Avengers.

My optimistic side is telling me that this could be the kick in the pants that DC might need. We'll just have to see how this turns out.

If the trailer is mostly blue and drab like the recent Justice League trailer, then there's no hope for DC. Even former MCU alumni can't help them at this point.

The fact is that we DON'T know that Affleck is trying to get out of the Batman role. All we DO know is that he has decided not to direct the Batman solo film. Affleck is reportedly still involved in writing the movie so let's just wait and see.

That's right, we don't know if the rumours of Affleck departing the role are true. Those rumours began after he dropped out of directing The Batman.

Well, it could the Gail Simone run or the divisive Burnside run.
