Is the entire arc better than the Johto League Finals?

I guess now the gang's gonna head over to Orre or the Battle Frontier...

I thought Ash lost in the Top 8 again. His match against Tetsuya wasn't the Finals I believe.

Predictable. He's getting slowly farther each league. Going up a rank each time [except Orange since that wasnt really a tournament]. So if theory goes right, then Ash will win next season, and it could be the last league. Hopefully it will have Misty instead of May/Max.

I would rather the whole gang get on there. Ash, Misty, Brock, May AND Max. Why does it always have to be 3-4 people? And Ash in Orre? Hell no! We need a seperate spin-off series for any Colliseum related adaptations. I cannot see Ash teaming up with the likes of Wes. (The main character of said game if you have no clue what I mean.) He's looks like he's too anti-social to be hanging around a dumbass like Ash. Plus I think in an old interview that Colliseum's main characters were practically 16-17 of age. Compare that to the ages of our current group.

After Hoenn, Ash is taking a brief trip back to Pallet Town for a few episodes before he heads out to the Battle Frontier.

He'll probably stay there until the Diamond/Pearl games come out, which then Ash will most likely travel there. And most likely May too, since Max, Misty, and Brock have always been expendable.

Wait, so we jump from Top 8 to Top 2?

Meh. At least it's only one more arc.

Satoshi's loss to Tetsuya was in the Top 8, not the finals.

The Hoenn league was better then the Johto League, although Kotatsu got a raw deal and Onigohri seemed to get a lot of spotlight for a Pokemon Satoshi's only had for like 20 episodes.

Overall, Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation has been the best in Pocket Monsters history, and at least they did somewhat change things up by having Satoshi beat his main rival(Masamune), rather then lose to him.

They did break two Pocket Monsters traditions:
Satoshi always making it to the next round(this time he goes to the Top 8 again, rather then the Top 4 like everyone and their grandma thought)
The person who defeats him losing their next match(Tetsuya wins the League)

Still, it would be nice to see something different for a change next region. Every region it's the same old 8 badges and then the league routine, when are they going to change the format of the show?

Ash came in the same rank as he did in the Johto league. He came in the top 16 in the Indigo League, the top 8 in the Johto league, and the top 8 AGAIN in Hoenn. So who knows how long it'll take before Ash wins.

Well in the Johto league he had pokemon he had already trained from the past league, in this one he started from scratch. Not that i wouldn't enjoy a change on the pacing of the show, let's just hope the D/P games offer something different or innovative so the anime can continue. which btw they should release some information on D/P if it only comes out in a few months there should be a lot of info out already, but not even a screenshot...

Well, when you think about it, it's amazing Ash has done so well. There's likely at least 200-500 Trainers that attend the League Championship every year, and to place in the top 25 in his first three years is really amazing.

I would expect Ash to actually start to win a League until he's about 17 or so, though.

It will stay take awhile before Ash and May really improve though.

And by that time I'm afraid we'll all be old and gray.

Unless they're trying to copy Dragonball, where Goku lost the tournaments he entered until the final tournament where he actually won.

Maybe something similar is in store for Pokemon.

Well, 1 episode does not equal one week of show time. The Lugia & St. Anne mini-arcs took anywhere from 3 days to a week show time, yet 3-5 episodes to show everything. And the average episode only showcases a couple hours of the gang's lives. Plus, they spent about a month in Petalburg City episode-wise, but I bet it wasn't more than a week and a half show-time.

I'd estimate Satoshi is probably 15 right now, Haruka is 11, and Takeshi might be 18 or so.

I know some episodes only take a few hours at a time, but there are also episodes that are months in between, like when he is waiting for the League to start. You also have to remember that they walk most of the time, you'd think they spend a lot of weeks just doingthat before reaching a destination, the manga mentioned this all the time "i've been walking through Mt. Moon for the past month", it should take them a long time to go from town to town.

I agree with you, I hope the format changes.

Besides he's been training for around 3 years, Pikachu should be at God level by now, Why doesnt he win? Can't he combine the Knowdlege he earned at all the other Leagues? is he dumb?
