Just chiming in to say there was a trailer attached to my showing of Logan. A user on another board I visit said their screening had a red band version, but I only saw a green band.

Scott hints he's got a third script ready to shoot next year.

Translation: "Screw you, Blomkamp, I'm the only one who gets to make Alien films now!"

    3/8: I think you called it. :p

3/9: Another photo of Predator cast posted.

3/10: Like with David, looks like a viral promo for Walter. MeetWalter.com

3/14: Covenant explores the origins of the 'classic' Alien. (If that's all you need to know don't read the article. Major spoilers!)

3/17: The next movie might be titled Awakening and take place between Prometheus and Covenant chronologically.

3/23: New Covenant poster. Doesn't look too good for the Engineers.

3/24: Edward James Olmos joins Predator as a "military character."

That Covenant poster is outstanding, and kind of disturbing. This movie looks like it's going to be far more graphic and horror oriented than Prometheus was.

They've given away too much of the plot with the recent leaks/promos/etc.

The only thing left to find out is "who lives/who dies?".

The poster translates as "What will be the end of mankind?", asking us to chose between the Aliens and the Android (Walter).

I'm reminded of "The Walking Dead", where humans are sometimes more monstrous then the Walkers shuffling across around the land...

True, but here it's the faceless corporation. And Scott's going back to Alien with making the android as much a threat as the alien. Though technically, only what Aliens had an android that was a good guy?

Hmm, you know, in retrospect, it's no longer the faceless corporation following "Prometheus". David was like a son to Old Man Weyland.

And from what we've been teased, David is now no longer a servant of the corporation, he's got his own agenda...well, I suppose he could still be following his "father's" orders, but I think he's gone insane and has his own mission now...

Androids doing the secret bidding of corporate overlords is so 1979. ;)

4/16: New photos from EMPIRE's coverage Covenant and a bit more on the androids.

Also in EMPIRE, Ridley Scott is "holding back some of his gruesome notions for future installments" and is planning to do at least 2 movies before linking up with the original Alien. Right now there's a ten-page synopsis and he's working with John Logan. Scott isn't ruling out the idea of using a digitally de-aged Sigourney Weaver to bring back Ripley. There will be "different mutations" of the Alien to come.

4/17: Found footage teaser of Daniels' message to her father.

Hmm, combining "found footage" horror films with Aliens? I know that's just a viral marketing video, and not the way the actual movie looks, but I think that'd be an intriguing take on the Aliens franchise...

Movie looks great, but the story is dumber than rocks. These are revelations I never needed to know about the Xenomorphs.

Exactly! I hate the whole philosophical stuff being forced into the Alien franchise. And I would've rather had the Xenomorph's past either being natural creatures or not brought up at all. The aliens and special effects look great, but the story is just bad. It's like it was directed by Micheal Bay.

I like the cut of your jib ShadowBeast. My problem is, even with the changes in Covenant, it still doesn't feel like Alien. IMHO Scott isn't able to rectify the weirder sci-fi ideas he clearly wanted to explore in Prometheus and making this an Alien film.

I think Scott would've been better off if Prometheus had nothing to do with Alien, then Scott could've completely explored the idea of ancient humanoids creating humanity, ancient astronauts, and a planet that was like Paradise being a potentially awful place for humans to visit.

My official review if anyone wants to give it a look.

As bad as the AvP films were at least they made the connection to the first Alien film in a believable way. (Weyland Yutani receiving the alien tech at the end of AvP2 and most likely having knowledge about the Xenomorphs during the two movies which explains how Ash and the company knew about Xenomorph in the original film.) But yeah Scott should've kept the whole "human creation" idea for a different film away from the Xenomorphs. And killing off Shaw off screen wasn't any better than killing off Newt in Alien 3. It just made their survivals feel wasted. And I agree with your review that the Neomorphs weren't given enough screen time and it would've been cool to see a Neomorph versus Xenomorph fight.

They definitely rushed through the Neomorphs to get to the Xenomorphs or proto-Xenomorphs or whatever they are.
