In the Sinnoh region Team Galactic is introduced. They are also similar to Team Rocket. In addition, Pokemon Hunter J also poses as a villain in the Sinnoh region. Several other minor villains have been shown throughout the series and movies.
Ash as well as May and Dawn have had they fair share of rivals. Ash's first rival was Gary Oak, grandson of Prof. Oak. Ash placed higher than Gary in the Indigo League and beat him in the Johto League. Since then Gary has decided to become a researcher and has only battled Ash on occasion. Richie met Ash in the Indigo League and defeated him. Since then they've been good friends but they have never battled since. Ash didn't get a true rival after than until coming to the Sinnoh region where he met Paul. Paul is Ash's opposite in several way, most notably in the way they raise they're Pokemon. Ash and Paul have already battled three times in the Sinnoh region, resulting in a win for Paul and two ties.
May had Drew and Harley as rivals in the Hoenn region as well as the Battle Frontier. May has some feelings toward Drew and Drew respects May as a worthy rival. Harley has a very awkward personality, which doesn't go over with May very well. The two have come to hate each other, but not quite on the same level as Ash and Paul. Soledad became one of May's rivals in the Battle Frontier. Soledad is the strongest of the three, as she won the Kanto Grand Festival.
Dawn has already acquired three rivals in Zoey, Kenny, and Nando. Zoey has already become to be one of Dawn's best friends. Zoey always seems to give Dawn great
advice when it comes to contests. Kenny is one of Dawn's old childhood friends. Dawn defeated Kenny in order to win her first ribbon. Nando after meeting with Ash and Dawn decided to take part in both Contests as well as Gym Battles. He has been doing well in both as Nando has even defeated Zoey once.
Unlike the main series which focuses on Ash, Pokemon Chronicles focused on the side characters like Richie and Misty. Also, the series starts off with a three part episode "The Legend of Thunder" which features Jimmy (a.k.a. Gold from Pokemon Gold Version) Raikou which was featured in "The Legend of Thunder" is the only pre-generation 4 legendary Pokemon that Ash has not seen.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has generated two episodes. Both episodes were meant to promote the games. The first of which was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate, based on the Blue Rescue Team for the DS, and Red Rescue Team for the Game Boy Advance. This special followed Squirtle, a boy turned Pokemon, on his first journey as a Pokemon. The second special was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explores of Team and Darkness, based on the video game of the same name. The story line was similar to the first special as it followed Piplup's first adventure as a Pokemon.
