'''''Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit''''' (''Seirei no Moribito'') is an [[anime]] series based on the first of the series of ''Guardian'' fantasy novels written by Nahoko Uehashi.

Twenty-six episodes of the series were produced by [[Production I.G]] and aired in Japan on the NHK television network from April 7 to September 29, 2007. The series is licensed in North America previously by Geneon and currently by Media Blasters, and has aired in the U.S. on [[Cartoon Network]]'s [[Adult Swim]] block.

==Plot==
Balsa is a wandering warrior and a bodyguard-for-hire, a job she chose for herself to atone for a sin she committed in her past. One day she saves the life of a young prince named Chagum when his escort is nearly toppled off a bridge, and is later charged by his mother the Second Empress to become his permanent bodyguard. The reason for this is because his father the Emperor has secretly ordered his death because of a water demon residing in his body which is thought to bring misfortune and destruction to his country.
