Same reason they changed Goldberg's on The Monday Night Wars, Booker and Bret I dont know may be the same reason they dont want to pay Jesse Ventura for the ONE match he calls on the dvd and thereore edited out his every word leaving Tony Schiavone to talk to himself

On the Wrestlemania 2000 2nd disc, the Iron Man had the music for both contestants WAY out of synch, and Michaels was the remix!

Yesterday, I went to my local FYE, and picked up The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection and Chris Benoit: Hard Knocks the Chris Benoit story. I am currently watching the Ric Flair things, but I am currently in the "watching" stage.

The Rise and Fall of ECW

There's something to be said for this being a two disc set, unfortunatly I dont know what that would be. Anyway

Quote:

E-C-W! E-C-W! E-C-W!" - a chant heard in arenas around the world.

ECW: Extreme Championship Wrestling redefined professional wrestling in the '90s with a reckless, brutal, death-defying, and often bloody style that came to be known as "hardcore." It attracted a rabid, cult-like following that is still going strong today.

This 6-hour, 2-disc set follows the rise and eventual demise of the company that raised the bar and revolutionized sports-entertainment forever.

DVD Extras:
Seven bonus matches, including:

  • The Pit Bulls vs. Raven & Stevie Richards
2 out of 3 Falls Dog Collar Match for ECW World Tag Team Championship
    Gangsta's Paradise - Philadelphia, PA (09-16-95)
  • Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Psichosis
    2 out of 3 Falls
Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-17-95)
  • Mikey Whipwreck vs. The Sandman
    Ladder Match for ECW Championship
Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-28-95)
  • 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu
    ECW World Television Championship Match
    CyberSlam - Philadelphia, PA (02-17-96)
  • Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven
    WrestlePalooza - Philadelphia, PA (06-06-)97
    (Alternate Commentary)
  • Tazz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
    ECW World Television Championship Match
Living Dangerously - Asbury Park, NY (03-01-98)
    (Alternate Commentary)
  • Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn
    ECW World Television Championship Match
Hardcore Heaven - Poughkeepsie, NY (05-16-99)
    (Alternate Commentary)
  • Steven Richards Apologizes for Leaving ECW
  • Tazz Seeks Paul Heyman's Blessing
  • Paul Heyman: Travel Agent

I'm kind of bummed that none of the matches from 93-94 and 00-01 are on the DVD. I'm also bummed that RVD VS. Bam Bam Bigelow and Sabu VS. Sandman (Stairway to Hell) are'nt on it.

Im not. Fankly anything ECW did after 1997 either sucked big time or was just dragged out to the point where it lost any real impact. I wouldve liked to have seen some of the early ECW (Eastern Championship Wrestling) stuff though. Most of these matches listed i have on other DVD's or tapes, i wouldve rather have seen the main event from "The Night the Line was Crossed" (the Douglas-Funk-Sabu triple threat match) or the first "November to Remember" (Sabu & Road Warrior Hawk vs. Terry Funk & King Kong Bundy, which may not exist on video) included instead. Oh well, it could be worse, it could be matches from when Justin Credible/Jerry Lynn/Steve Corino was there world champ.

Seriously though, i hope this DVD isnt an ECW love-fest with Paul Heyman sitting around talking about how ECW only went out of business because TNN wouldnt advertise them. Dont get me wrong, ECW was awesome in its day (1995-1997) and it did revolutionize the sport. But frankly it died about 2 years before it actually went out of business. There was a definite and extreme decline in its later years as the company ran out of wrestlers and Heyman ran out of ideas. Id really like to see it addressed beyond Heyman just blaming others for his own problems.

That Rise and Fall of ECW DVD sucks. I'll stick to getting ECW DVDs on R1 and R2.

I bought Shawn Michaels: Boyhood Dream and History of WrestleMania: I-IX at FYE for $7.95 each, brand new. That's pretty cheap for a 2 hour DVD, even if its barebones. I really hope WWE continues this. Its cheap and its a pretty good product.

I liked the Michaels DVD better as it goes through the main events of what I consider the 2nd best year in WWE history (1997 being the best). Notably on History of WrestleMania I-IX, they go through multiple matches from each WrestleMania, which I think is well worth the $7.99 pricetag.

I saw the Michaels DVD and thought about buying it, but are the matches all full or are they just clips, or how is the DVD layed out?

The WWE remakes, well, I found hard to navigate through chapters. There is a chapters section listed, but I just fast forwarded to the parts, because whenever you select a chapter, it just goes through the trailers and takes you back to the main screen. That's kinda odd.

The matches are edited, but the only one that is brutally edited [and obviously] is the Iron Man Match. You get the 1st quarter of the match and then the last quarter of the match. Otherwise, I loved it.

The matches are:
Wrestelmania 12 vs. Bret Hart
In Your House 7 (Good Friends, Better Enemies) vs. Diesel
In Your House 8 (Beware of Dog) vs. British Bulldog
Summerslam 96 vs. Vader
In Your House 10 (Mind Games) vs. Mankind
Survivor Series 96 vs. Sycho Sid
Royal Rumble 97 vs. Sycho Sid

In Your House 9 (International Incident) Shawn Michaels, Sycho Sid & Ahmed Johnson vs. British Bulldog, Vader & Owen Hart, as previously listed, is not on the DVD.

free limited RVD action figure with Rise & Fall of ECW DVD

Damn!! RVD in his ECW attire! Now I want to get it! Personally I'm not too interested in the DVD!! I wonder if I can buy the DVD with the figure, keep the receipt, and then after 2 weeks give the DVD back. Or maybe I could get it then sell/trade the DVD on the Internet.

I got the Rise and Fall of ECW on DVD (with a free skull cap) and it is probably the best WWE DVD to date.

The documentary was amazing. I just wish they interviewed more NON-WWE ECW alumni. Like New Jack and Beulah. And some of the fans like Straw Hat Guy.

Other observations:

I was really impressed with all the footage they showed, from Shane Douglas's speeches to Paul Heyman cursing out TNN.

Eric Bischoff came off as a spoilsport in this.

Every wrestling fan should get this DVD.

I was at Bad Blood. If anyone owns or is planning to buy it, where the camera shines most of the time, i should be off to the left, but when the camera moves over, look for the kid wearindg a shirt that says Worldwide Evil with a demon on the front. Very Dark Brown Hair. That would be me.

I buy a lot of the movies the WWE releases. I bought a lot of the pay perviews on DVD, and the Monday night war. I urge you to get that. I also can't wait for the rise and Fall of ECW.

I picked up Rise and Fall of ECW a few weeks ago at my local FYE. I thought the DVD was a lot better than the Monday Night War DVD. I was happy to see it was'nt one-sided. A big plus was that we did'nt hear Gerald Brisco saying that WWE "kicked ECW's butt".

I also really enjoyed listening to Bischoff saying that they never "raided" ECW in '95, and then hearing Heyman say that Bischoff was full of you know what.

While I love everything else on the disc, I was disappointed that WWE could'nt get the rights for some of the wrestler's theme songs. It was pretty disappointed to watch Sandman go to the ring to generic music instead of Enter Sandman.

All in all, I thought the DVD was good. It's a great DVD for people who never got to watch ECW when it was in it's heyday (Like myself). Plus my copy came with a free skull cap. So that's a plus.

Seems strange that I can findany future news on WWE DVDs, other than that Rob Van Dam has a DVD coming out Jan 4 according to various newsites, but it still isn't available for pre-order according to Amazon.

Rob Van Dam? Over [insert a dozen other more successful and popular wrestlers here]? Maybe it was just a natural follow-up as they were culling footage for the ECW DVD.

It does have an impressive match listing, though, if the claims are true:

There's nobody in sports entertainment like Rob Van Dam. Period. Opponents and fans alike expect the unexpected when the self-proclaimed "Whole F'n Show" strikes with his high-flying, martial arts-based style.

Follow his amazing career on this 2-disc, 6-hour journey from WCW, to ECW, and finally, WWE, with 16 complete matches, hosted and introduced by RVD himself. Plus...over an hour of bonus features, interviews, promos and more. RVD truly is ONE OF A KIND.

Match Listing:

vs. Pat Rose
(WCW Saturady Night 23/01/93)

vs. Scotty Flamingo
(WCW Worldwide 08/02/93)

vs. Axl Rotten
(ECW Hardcore TV 05/01/96)

vs. Sabu
(ECW Hostile City Showdown 20/04/96)

vs. Sabu
(ECW Hardcore Heaven 22/06/96)

Sabu & RVD vs. The Eliminators
(ECW Crossing The Line 01/02/97)

vs. Lance Storm
(ECW Barely Legal 13/04/97)

vs. Jeff Hardy
(Raw 12/05/97)

vs. Tommy Dreamer
(ECW November 2 Remember 30/11/97)

vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
(ECW Hardcore TV 04/04/98)

vs. Jerry Lynn
(ECW Living Dangerously 21/03/99)

vs. Balls Mahoney
(ECW Anarchy Rulz 16/09/99)

vs. Jerry Lynn
(ECW Guilty as Charged 07/01/01)

vs. Jeff Hardy
(WWE Invasion 22/07/01)

vs. Chris Jericho
(WWE King of the Ring 23/06/02)

vs. Christian
(Raw 29/09/03)
