This year it's very predictable with the exception of the Best Picture award. It's still between Avatar and the Hurt Locker.

Having seen Avatar last night, I can say that if it wins Best Picture it won't surprise me. But, I still wanna see Up win instead.

Steve & Alec reference everything but UP? It's official. The Academy views Animated movies as Satan.

And they never make presenting the animation Oscars fun anymore (like when Robin Williams used to do it, or when they did it in animation form with Chicken Little) Now it's done by generic actors that apparently do not enjoy animation.

Ironically that's what they're doing right now.
EDIT - And Pete Doctor gets his revenge for the great mistake of 2001.

Well, that explains why Ponyo didn't get nominated for Best Animated Film, although it's nice that they included the Secret of Kells in the "interview" segment with animated characters.
Also, BIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!!!

They stripped musical numbers from the show. A good idea in my opinion.

Looks like Disney's 2D-animation will never win an Oscar at all.

Personally, I'd would have liked to have at least seen a montage of the Best Song nominees (a la last year), so that way we have an idea of what each song is supposed to be like before the winner is announced.

Well it sure bums to be a New York resident right now. (watching the oscars on live stream but it wasn't easy finding a good source.)
Anyway, I'm glad UP won for best animated feature.
