I just read the new interview with William Baldwin and it was good, but how come now they're talking about the actors recording alone in the booths? It seemed like the DC animated projects always kind of prided themselves on the fact they were always recorded with the cast together, but now the actors are talking about performing by themselves. Did something change?

Actually if I remember correctly very few of these DCUA movies have had group recording sessions.
For instance I know for a fact that New Frontier was solo recordings.

That's what I meant. The various series and past movies were mostly done in group recordings, so I was just curious why it seems to have changed for these ones.

and interestingly the one that does seem to be a group recording (someone correct me if I'm wrong), is Public Enemies.

I think it all comes down to scheduling. I'm just making assumptions here, but I believe one of the things to consider is whether or not all the voice actors are available at the same time to come in and do their part.
I'm sure when you have something with a cast as big as JL: Crisis on Two Earths, some of the actors have to squeeze in the time to do it and it may not coincide with the schedules of each of the other actors.
Plus, if you look at something like S/B: Public Enemies, that was a bit of a reunion of sorts for the main three voice actors, so the actors and producers probably went the extra distance to put together and schedule it as a group session.

First of all, I disagree that most voice sessions are done in group ...doing individual sessions facilitates the voice-directors' ability to do multiple takes for each line (which they often do) ...group sessions are much more rare. Plus, as it was mentioned, scheduling all the talent to be present at the same time would be difficult to-say-the-least.
Aside, IIRC, Andrea Ramano mentioned in the CO2E DVD bonus feature that James Woods had to record his stuff from off-site (opposite coast I believe) and got direction through a teleconference.

Well, as we all know much of B:TAS was done in groups, along with Justice League. Kevin Conroy has always talked about how, unlike with Disney, they always worked as a group (barring the occasional cast member who had a conflict and had to simply record their part later), and we've seen that in various behind-the-scenes featurettes and stuff with the actors seated around a large room behind microphones. (Even Family Guy and older shows like G.I. Joe did it this way.)
I guess I can kind of see the benefit of recording actors in one-off sessions, but I suppose with these being one-time movies it's easier to just record the parts in pieces, as opposed to a weekly series where most of the cast can be together for sessions. I guess that's one of the differences. Again, it was just a curiosity, not meant to start a big debate or anything.

Single recording sessions make for better technical editing. Group sessions allow for actors to bounce off each other and have their performances match up with others.
I'd say group sessions get better results. Single sessions are good for getting talent outside of the pool and bigger names (such as the ones the DTVs are bringing in).

Aye, but that was DCAU. They've gone with a different direction with the DCUA line, and as Bat-fan Beyond said, Public Enemies was shpecial for the team, hence the group recording session.

I doubt they just decided to do this seperate recording thing as part of their "new direction". It's probably a logical move to make it easier for talent like James Woods to be able to do the movie with their busy schedule.
Melissa Jon Hart and Angie Harmon recorded their voice tracks seperately when they did Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, so this isn't a new concept.

Anybody have any thoughts on the Spectre short that's apparently going to be included in this?

Only three.
- Only two more months left before we can see it.

- This be a great way to spruce up the Special Features that have fallen to the wayside, probably because of the production schedule.
- I wonder how TZ members are going to dissect this one?

I wonder if the Spectre short is going to use the same design style as the movie or will it have its own look.
