I would like to call that "network puberty". Like going through that initial change and awkward phase that happens in life, or television sometimes.

Dude... no.

Just... no.

To me, this is akin to changing the CBS eye. The ever-changing Nick logo was TIMELESS. It never aged, never got old. It's a masterful, easy to identify brand identity.

And yet they want to change it.

Dumbfounding.

How could anyone ever think that this could replace the "splat" logo? It's disgusting.
Well I guess it's safe to say that old Nick is slowly dying away, sharing a fate with that of Cartoon Network.
Isn't that going a little overboard? I mean Nick has no reason to do anything CN did/is currently doing. They are on top, they know how to run a network and whether we agree with what they do or not they get good results. Not only do they have the top cartoons (SB, Peinguns, whatever they decide to play after those cash cow shows) they have some of the top tween comedies (iCarly and from the ratings I've been seeing True Jackson VP is picking up steam) Nick is not going to commit suicide with this new logo.

Anyone old enough to post on this board has seen the logo change at least twice, we've seen Noggin turn from a all around kids channel to a preschool and teen channel to two separate channels, we've seen Nicktoons turn from the channel for classic nicktoons to essentially Nick 2 with a few originals and even if most of us would consider some of these things bad they come out on top. CN new logo= new management with inflated ego wants to fix what wasn't broken
Nick new logo= Simple re branding after a billion years. Not going to affect channel quality.

25 years of having the some logo isn't bad.

I agree with you Kuromi_Star, CN's re-design and continuing changes are not equal to Nick's forthcoming change -- they are two very different things.

I actually like the new logo. The splat is, er was iconic but this look looks a lot more streamlined yet still retaining a "fun" look. I suppose this was added due to the success of iCarly/True Jackson attracting quite a lot of teenagers along with kids and more LA shows will follow.

It's part of Nickelodeon trying to appeal to families as a whole. The splat logo is too kid-ish.

Hey, at least it's still orange.

Isn't that the point? I always figured Nickelodeon aimed most of their series squarely at children while Disney handled the "wholesome family" angle. That said, I don't neither like nor hate the logo. Plain Jane, but somehow I like its simplicity, though I do agree it doesn't hold a candle to the iconic splat. So...neutral for me.

I think their changing the logo for channel identification reason. Want to know why? For the last few years Nick has been trying to phase out the "elodeon" part of their logo for no reason in particular just calling the network the shortened "Nick" for the heck of it.

Now with this new logo they can use there full name...and still have a good looking logo without a giant splat logo like they used to before they shortened the name. And considering this is thier 30th anniversery, what better chance to return to your origins then now?

It's not that bad. It's just a new logo. It's not like the programming is going to change. Nick will still be Nick, just with a new logo.

Precisely. At least the only thing Nick is changing is their logo. At least they're not pulling a CN and giving their entire channel an unnecessary facelift.

QFT. Nickelodeon is run by smart people. The new logo does not mean "holy ****! It's the end of the world!" all the time. I just hope slime and the orange blimp will remain in the Kids Choice Awards. Too iconic to mess up. Although I will miss the slime logo and think the new logo is too generic and bland, maybe it will create a more pleasant bug on the tv. Look at the Nick HD bug. Despite it having the whole name on it, it's hideously huge. King Julian agrees!

Also, does anyone know what the new TeenNick logo looks like? I can't find it on Google or Wikipedia.

I don't think Mort likes it either!
I hope I get Nick HD soon. I just saw on Nickelodeon the slogan "Now available in High Definition!" Yet, I don't think TimeWarner has it yet.

To be honest, the new(?) logo isn't that bad, actually. It isn't groundbreaking, of course, but it has a simplistic, clean-cut design that may or may not reflect Nick's future programming.

Unfortunately, it's part of the national domination of other simplistic, clean-cut logos, like the new Togo's logo.

Actually, it looks like he's scared of the logo by how big it is.
