TV Shows on DVD has the full story.

I don't think I've ever seen either of those two movies. But I guess this is the chance for me to see them.

This may sound stupid, but I hope the Columbia logo with Wilma holding the torch is intact on that DVD.

Unlikely, I'm afraid. In fact, I'll bet that's what caused the whole fiasco in the first place.

How lame. And, companies complain when stuff gets leaked on YouTube. They're just asking for it. If the DVD doesn't include that logo then you know someone who has a copy on VHS will just upload it.

Actually, I think it had something to do with the music rights for the songs.

Earl Kress said as much on GAC. Apparently, The Louis Prima estate demanded an exorbitant amount of money for his participation.

Another Interesting fact. The first batch of US DVD's were destroyed shortly after being pressed.

I've seen "The Man Called Flintstone" before, both when it was on Cartoon Network and...on DVD.

Apparently while the US rights to the music were in a mess, the Canadian rights were all cleared, so the film was released to DVD in Canada, where even today it's still available to be bought (or checked out from my local library, which has a copy of this DVD somehow)---though given I only saw it on sale at an HMV music store for a rather hefty-to-me $25, I opted against buying it when I was vacationing in Montreal last week...good thing I held off (assume the US release will be much cheaper!)...

I remember seeing this many moons ago on Cartoon Network during the early-to-mid 1990's. I assume that that's the last time that it aired in the U.S, as I don't recall it even being aired during the "Powerhouse" era (1997-2004) on "Cartoon Theater".

The same can be said about "The Bear That Wasn't". Seriously, I haven't seen it since the early days of "The Moxy Show" on CN around that same time period. Is that short tied up in legal mumbo-jumbo as well???

You're going to have to clarify that one for me. Are you talking about an earlier U.S. DVD release that was planned before the rights issues came up?

Yes. That release was originally meant to tie-in with the Season 3 DVD. Those copies were apparently destroyed, since Warner couldn't do anything with them.

By the way, if the rights issues have been cleared up, there's no reason why the Columbia logo shouldn't be in the movie.

Great news! If there is enough interest in these releases, maybe some of the Superstars 10 movies will see the light of day on DVD.

I'll be picking both of these up for sure, I remember seeing the Man Called Flintstone on Cartoon Network sometime in the late 90s, but that was the last time I ever saw it on television.

I hope so too, as Jerry Beck's Animated Movie Guide said it was the best thing in the movie! But the Canadian DVDs didn't have it (from what I hear), so it might not be included on this DVD.

And maybe new Yogi/Flintstones projects as well.

I have TMCF so I could not care less but just the other day I wondered about HTIYB. This is so awesome, I can't wait for Yogi's DVD.

As for TMCF, the DVD does not have the Columbia lady Wilma and it was on TV lots of times in Canada untill about the time the DVD came out.

VHS releases

From the comments on this thread, it makes it sound as though this is the first video release of these two movies. Actually both of them were released on VHS more than 15 years ago. And yes, the Wilma/Columbia logo is on the "TMCF" VHS release.

THANX

Ummm....

15 years ago is a long time ago. And that's VHS. This is DVD. People have a right to be excited.
