News: "Batman: Gotham Knight" Hi-Res DVD Art

News: "Gotham Girls" Web-Series Coming to DVD

WOW! Gotham Girls is coming to DVD? I just started watching that show a few days ago and have only seen the first few episodes. It seems like a fun romp. Is it canon, though? In any case, I must buy the Birds of Prey DVD for Gotham Girls. Now if only the crossover episodes of Static Shock and The Zeta Project would be released...

And... there's a review up for Batman: Gotham Knight ALREADY? Wow! I'll have to read that in a minute.

It features the same voice cast and doesn't contradict anything, so yes, I consider it canon.

Season sets first please!

Cool. I heard that the third season features all the men being sent to another dimension or something and figured that it wasn't canon. I also hope it ends with all plot elements resolved.

True, Warner should fork out the season sets for those who want them.

It ends with all of the plots resolved. And the dimension hopping isn't nearly as jarring for people who have seen similar exploits in STAS and Justice League.

Yup. They should do a single disc release AFTER all of the sets were out for people who aren't interested in the sets. But the sets should come first.

That's actually a damn fine cover, after seeing the teaser, knowing Bruce Timm is heading this again, Kevin Conroy is back, and this cover, I think this just became a must buy on my list.

That is great cover art but I am anxious to see the the hi-res cover art for the Two-Disc Special Edition/Blu-Ray release.

And Gotham Girls on DVD? Finally! While they should have been on the animated releases I am willing to pick up Bird of Prey: The Complete Series for this! Looking forward to the last The Batman DVD release, too.

Clever, clever WB. We were petitionning for this for MONTHS (*pokes Fone and nods*) and now they sneak it onto the Birds of Prey set? A smart way to get people who otherwise wouldn't care for BOP to buy the set.

Not to whine too much, but I'm still really hoping the Gotham Girls webisodes don't entirely take the place of a featurette looking back on the series, and the decidedly odd choices it made. I've been thinking of BOP release primarily in the hopes of hearing what the creative minds behind it were thinking.

If ever there was an opportunity for actors, writers and producers to get honest about how mis-guided a project was and poke fun of themselves, this is it.

Good to see that WB was listening that we wanted Gotham Girls. I think the last few episodes of Birds of Prey were actually quite good, so I'll pick this up, and I think it could've continued to make huge leaps in quality if given the chance.

Bundling Gotham Girls with BOP actually makes a lot of sense.

Birds of Prey had a certain appeal before Batman Begins came along. At the time it seemed like the closest we'd ever get to seeing a comics-faithful live action Batman, even if Batman wasn't in it That "Killing Joke" intro alone was enough to warrant watching the first season.

Of cousre since then we've been spoiled with Batman Begins, and upcoming Dark Knight...

I'm with you. I kind of liked Birds of Prey but have caught the show since it first aired and it wasn't as good as I remembered (and even then I didn't remember it as being that great). I'll probably get it just because it is what it is and to finally get Gotham Girls on DVD. Won't rush out the first day it's out though.

Have a good day.

I think it could've continued to make huge leaps in quality if given the chance.

I've often day-dreamed about the different directions a second season could have gone, and would have to agree with you. This show had nowhere else to go but up.

I'll probably get it just because it is what it is and to finally get Gotham Girls on DVD.

See...that kinda irritates me, because it's my first impulse too. And really, are either the Gotham Girls shorts, or this series alone with 30+ of my (very strong) Canadian dollars? I liked the idea of GG being extras on the TNBA set, which has great stories and animation...but I don't think they're enough of a draw for me to rush out and buy BOP the week it hits the stands.

What WOULD stir up some interest is a featurette with Dina, Ashley, Rachel, Ian, Mia and the writers roasting this show for the well-intentioned joke it eventually became. THAT would get me to buy this. But without that...it's kinda like a bunch of entertaining B material. The Webisodes are available online...so...

I think the extras will be limited to the GG 'sodes and the original unaired pilot. Possibly character bios or something equally throw-away. Maybe a deleted scene or two.

Hi,

It´s nice to hear that GG will finally make it to DVD, I´ve only watch a few episodes but I really liked the series, so I will definitely will be picking BOP series, which also I´ve only seen a few episodes, but I always wanted to see the entire series, although TVshowsonDVD is reporting that according to WB this boxset will have FS video, no pilot, and mono audio, they are waiting to a confirmation of these "big" details.

Later...

P.S.

This will be the perfect ocassion to release the so wanted Special Edition of MOTP

??!?!??

That's so totally completely lame. Could DC/WB cop out more than to leave off the unaired pilot? That's really a no-brainer.

Although, maybe what they'll do instead is list the alternate scenes as deleted, since some footage from the original pilot still made it's way into the aired one. Rather than waste space having two full pilots, just show the unused bits and pieces from the first...?

Why wouldn't they release this in widescreen? *sigh* I guess we just have to wait and see...

Mod Note: Please take any unrelated "Birds of Prey" DVD discussion to the proper thread.

Oh, man...if they release this in FS, I'm not buying...

BTW, how do you think they are going to deal with the interactive aspects of Gotham Girls on a DVD release? Just cut out the parts where you get to click around on stuff?

All the clicking could be done with the arrow buttons on your clicker, I think. I just wonder if the various games that were a part of the website, seperate from the episodes, will also be included.

Yeah, I really don't understand why anything that was shot in widescreen would only be released in full screen, the world being the place that it is.

Well, 3 releases, but only one I will purchase, and the winner is......... Batman: Gotham Knight! The reasons are simple, the The and Titans try very hard to be Anime, but fall flat of their faces, also are in the rather dull 4:3 ratio... as per usual, where as BGK is Anime(Animatrix style concept, but that's fine by me) and is in the nice 16:9 ratio(definitely fine by me).

I'll be getting the two disc edition, as I like to see all the 'Making of', presentations and stuff. I'll get the other two later, maybe!

I will buy ONLY two DVDs.

Batman: Gotham Knight
and Teen Titans Season 5. That's all I'm planning to buy.

Who would want to buy The Batman Season 5 anyway? The Batman sucked worse.

Nyes, though going by your avie, you're somewhat biased in that direction methinks, so as a neutral, I say the best is......... yah, you're right, The Batman wins it, though S5 of Titans beats The Batman S5
