just watched the clip
I'll give it time, I'll watch the entire 1st season to see where it leads to

I recall not liking TT when they released the first glimpse. But I grew to enjoy it...even a few of the goofier eps. Of course having a strong character lik Slade really validated TT.

Does the Legion have an archenemy on par w/ Magneto, Dr. Doom, Slade, Darkseid, etc...

Off the top of my head:

Time Trapper -- Enigmatic master of time and entropy.

Mordru -- Evil Arch-wizard.

Universo -- Mind-Controller.

Fatal Five -- Group of powerful villains (seen in preview clip).

Darkseid -- Most people think of him now as a Superman villain, but he made his name fighting the Legion. Jack Kirby's 70's New Gods books, in which Darkseid first appeared, were so overlooked by the majority of comics readers, that few people had even heard of him. Of those who had, probably most knew him from a JLA/JSA/New Gods crossover, at the end of which he was apparently destroyed. His big break came in the 80's with the Legion's "The Great Darkness Saga." (Looking back, the clues to the mysterious villain's identity are so blatant, it's obvious just how unknown Darkseid must have been.) TGDS, its sequels, and the X-Men/Teen Titans Special following soon after, were where people finally started to know him. He only became a recurring Superman villain in the 90's.

The villain of Infinite Crisis was the Superboy/Clark Kent of Earth-Prime (which was originally supposed to be OUR universe -- poor kid grew up with the name of a comic-book character but without the powers!). He was introduced during Crisis on Infinite Earths because the Pre-Crisis rules on time travel said that any time one character travels to an era where he already exists, he will become an invisible intangible phantom unable to interact with his other self. Since Superman was involved in Crisis, it meant that Superboy, who had been almost as important a character as his older self, was effectively banned from Crisis. So, they created a replacement, Superboy-Prime, who finally gained his powers after a meeting with the Earth-1 Superman. The editors probably chose Earth-Prime for his origin since it was an established DCU alternate earth that they were planning to eliminate in Crisis. Unfortunately, between his debut and his exile to a pocket dimension at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths, he did almost nothing of importance; a fact which apparently haunted him for twenty years...
Gotcha. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna down some Tylenol

Infinite Crisis #7 a couple of months back. He was one of crazy Superboy's victims. At least he went out a hero.

Well from Jack Frenzy's post, it sounds like it was a Crisis indeed. It's too confusing for me.

Anywho, I think the new Legion cartoon looks fine. Remember this, even if it is geared towards the younger generation, it'll pull in more fans of the DCAU. Gotta keep the bloodlines going.

It was announced that Mekt Ranzz AKA Lightning Lord will appear on the show. So Lad's scar might tie into that debut episode, or it will probably be part of his origins when he, his sister and brother crashed on a planet.

Be interesting if Grimbor (Bounty Hunter) and Tangleweb (Big Spider) show up.

And I'm sure I could find a very short clip from any of those that viewed alone would make the series look not the greatest.
That's fine, but i was replying to a comment that was made that implied that Kids WB doesn't produce quality programming. I was actually saying Kids WB could still have quality programming. So actually your response probably should have been to bird boy...

Quote:
Yes, that was nearly ten years ago that all of those resided on the network. Times change and Kids WB changed. Theres no way you'd see those shows going past what their broadcast censors now allow on the network.
Fair enough. Still, you'd think there would be some higher ups at Kids WB who could still recognize quality...

I know what he meant, but it's not like the shows are completely ripped from us. Sure it'd be nice to have new eps, but it won't happen and the existence of the new shows isn't the hindrance on new episdoes of past ones. It's best just to move on already.
No, but new episodes are completely ripped from us. And this is a DCAU forum that was formed because of the bruce timm cartoons, we're all fans of them. Why should we move on??

Why did they change him from Superboy to Superman? To capitalize on the movie?

Childrens cartoons are made for profit and toy sales only. If it happens that it's a good cartoon along the way, then I'm sure they're happy. But I don't think it honestly matters to them as much as it used to.

Maybe if Spielberg came back...

They are not "ripped" from us. JLU was a Cartoon Network show and LOSH is a Kids WB! show. LOSH and TB's existence isn't the reason for the end of JLU.

You should move on because it's sad to be grasping at straws like you are. If more stuff from Timm comes along (and it will) then great. But don't mope around in the new show threads and complain about how you long for the "old days."

I like Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes better.
It fits better and it sounds better! Clark didn't become Superman anyways until he was older. When he was a teen he was Superboy at least in the comics, not the animated cartoon adventures!
Why WB changed it beats me?

The preview was good, but short.
I would still like to see at least a couple of episodes before giving my full opinion on this show!

Is this show will only air on WB?
I hope CN picks it up as well, just like they did with The Batman for a short time, though.

Don't forget Darkseid's featured role as the primary villain for the last two seasons of Super Friends and his inclusion in the Super Powers action figure line. I'm sure both helped give the character massive exposure to many young fans.

No, it will air on CN soon after a la The Batman. No real dates have been given, I'm not sure if the preview did. I did hear one rumor that it will premeire on September 23rd. But it remains a rumor until further official announcements are made.

...you were the one who used the term "ripped from us". You said they weren't ripped completely from us, i was simply using your terminology. I'm aware the shows are on two different networks, and i never once claimed that either show was the cause of the end of JLU. I was simply replying to a term you used and providing a possible explanation as to why a poster might feel the way you yourself described.

Um, *I* am not grasping at straws, moping OR complaining.

I was simply offering explanations for why a poster might feel the way he did.

Regardless, this is still a forum to discuss the DCAU, i fail to see why posters can't talk about how much they liked timm's DCAU.

Can anyone explain the Superboy legal rights issues?

Does this mean someone else will own Superboy and can do superboy shows, comics, etc.
