To A Future That Never Ends?-Gundam SEED Discussion
As its nearly 2 years old, quite large and things are quiet, I thought we should start a new CE thread. The previous one served us well but I think we need a new one.
Where things currently stand:
SEED Destiny- Volumes 1-11 now available in the US. The final volume should hopefully come in January.
SEED Destiny Final Plus- Currently slated for an individual DVD after the series ends.
SEED Destiny Special Editions- Currently set to follow Final Plus.
Gundam SEED: The Movie- In limbo, no fresh news for a while.
So at the moment, CE fans are looking to play the waiting game.
Personally, I've been focusing on 00 but I did pick up the Situation Figure Cagalli recently. I've ranted on figurines in the past but this one is pretty decent. It's Cagalli in her Destiny-era normal suit. You get a backdrop of the Akatsuki and an MS hand base, the idea being she's standing in the palm. The sculpt is pretty decent though one of the more iffy ones. I'm not sure if its intentional but she actually looks semi-Asian, which is fitting given her parentage.

Any chance that SEED will be released as a box set?

Eh, it depends. There certainly could have been a thinpak box by now, but there isn't so most likely single volume sales are good enough for Bandai to keep the status quo going for awhile longer. Maybe sometime in 2008, though it sure doesn't look to be in the near future.

I have to ask, is an all-perpose CE thread really nessessary at this point in time? If and when the proposed movie is announced then a new thread would be fine, but I just don't see the point in an ongoing thread when there's no knew major media releases to talk about.

I wanted to make one since the old one had become bloated yet there was still interest. I was hoping a fresh start might encourage further interest.

"Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!"
"Not by the missiles on your GINNy GINN GINN!!"
Now aren't you glad I didn't make a "Destiny's plot was made from straw" gag?......Whoops.

Also saw this news on Anime News Network just now. Looks like I can finally relive those late nights I spent watching this back in April 2004-2005, without the disco guns.
Cute pic BTW, HellCat.

Instead of whining about Gundam SEED Destiny, make it better. Read Gundam SEED: Kismet today!

Got volume 11 yesterday. Athrun and Cagalli cover makes for a happy little fanboy.
I must have missed it, but apparently volume 12 will have 4 pencil boards. They're all taken from OP scenes. I wish they'd chosen something better. Does anyone really use pencil boards?

No idea but check out the price difference between the regular version and the SE. From AoD

- My-OTOME, Vol. 4 - $24.98 - 1/8/2008

That's a $30 difference between Regular and SE for just pencil boards . If that's all the extra is going to be then I'm going to skip it, even though I would have liked to have had the pencil boards. Because even with discounts I really can't afford paying that much extra for some pretty pieces of plastic .
PS: No idea what's up with the quotes. While it may not post in final form the way I'm seeing it now, it's coming up with a second set of quotes in preview that I didn't put in but that I can't take out (it just puts them back in every time I delete them!). Serious board weirdness

It is alot. I'm lucky in that the exchange rate should make it about half that but it's still alot, especially given the previous SEs they've done. Perhaps Bandai want to make a larger profit straight out the door in 2008.
Personally, I think a cheaper price and a better item would make more sense. Seriously, I don't know anyone who uses pencil boards. A better extra would have been something like a poster. They could have done it double sided- not to be sexist but a few of the guys on one side for female fans and a mecha battle scene on the other for males.

Ugh. Whenever I go to Best Buy they never have volume 11. It is depressing.

Have you tried having Best Buy order it in? It might be easier than waiting and hoping your local store will get sent a copy.

Looking through the SEED LJ community. Seems the second fan disc had new footage for AMVs, including Kira riding a horse and a Miri & Meyrin fanservice video...
Things are about to happen....Terrible, Godless things.....

Especially odd since they skipped making Astray kits for all the other Astray sequels. I figured we'd never see anymore. My guess is they're going to slip SEED back into the spotlight for some other project, like the long-awaited movie.

Tell me about it. I've been saying for ages that Out Frame would be a no brainer since it uses all the various Striker and Wizard packs. We all know how Bandai loves kits that push other kits as further purchases.
I guess this is only getting kits because it's all recolours and minor remolds. I wonder if that will actually be enough to keep interest for SEED fans.

Dear God, the Cosmic Era is essentially "Gundam for Girls" now, given all the opportunities to dress up their characters in amusing suits and make them SD.

It kinda puts Wing into perspective. It had its share of out of character promo art too, but I don't recall an episode where Heero went on a shopping trip.
