No More GaoGaiGar? Actually, it's on hiatus and subtitled-only

Hi Everyone,
I was just at Anime Boston this past weekend and I was talking to Mike Sinterniklass (the voice of Gai) and he told me that Media Blasters has stopped production of Gao Gai Gar because it was not selling. So another good anime has bit the dust in terms of US release.

Well, this just completely ruined my week. (Waits for the US anime crowd to gobble up the next shoujo clichefest or angsty teen mecha EVA wannabe)

...n..noooo! ;~;

Man...*Grumblemutterobscenities*

If they had actually put the discs out in more easily-accessible stores, then I bet more people would've bought it. I would've. The only place around me that would order them in a timely manner for me was Barnes & Noble, for a jacked-up price. *Sigh*

My kingdom for it to have been put out at Wal-Mart.

Oh, dammit!!

All I can do is be optomistic and hope it's only the dub that's stopped production, but... bah, dammit.

I really liked GaoGaiGar. I wanted to have official subs of it... =/

Not to be overly skeptical, but I'm going to wait for confirmation before I believe it. Its not often production on a series is simply stopped halfway like this.

Wow, this brought me out of the woodwork!

If this is the end of GaoGaiGar in R1, than this will be the biggest anime licensing tragedy ever.

Let's just hope that they meant the dub. As good as it was, I would rather have the rest of GGG with no dub, than to not have it at all.

Edit: My post is up at Moe Union about this.

I guess that'd be alright. I will still wonder what a dubbed Mic would sound like, though.

How far did they get, anyway? Four discs of 20 episodes? That's almost halfway.

Edit: A macro I made is...well, rather fitting.

Gai is not amused at being canceled. =(

*Hopes this isn't true*

I guess it could just be the dub, but that's still quite a loss, I was enjoying it... and I mean, I've been slacking on my purchases (need 3 and 4 still) but...come on. =\

EDIT: Does this mean no FINAL? >_<

What the? You license a show like GaoGaiGar and pull out this early?

I'd like more confirmation thank you please.

Eh? My local Best Buy had scores of copies of GGG. At least 3 copies of the Starter Set and about 10 copies of Volumes 1-3.

And I think I'm the only one who actually bought any discs (and even then I ended up selling it).

Mine too.

Hmm, too soon to tell on this. If they're just cutting out the dub, that may actually be beneficial because it can be sold at cheaper prices, much like other sub-only releases like "Loveless" and "Kirameki Project", and I'd be more willing to check it out because of that potential budget pricing. I mean, I support dubs on R1 releases for obvious reasons, but no dub and the show still being released is better than no show at all.

But if it's actually stopping entirely, that really sucks not only for fans but those who want to get into the show but just haven't gotten around to it yet (like me). And what's the point of starting to buy a show if you know the show only got partially released?

I don't know, this seems pretty unusual. I mean how often does a company just stop production half way through? I don't think I'm gonna buy it unless I see some confirmation. Still if it is true, that's really to bad.

If it is true, I'd expect Media Blasters to refocus and release what they have in cheap boxsets in order to try and tempt more consumers.

I wonder how many people got turned off with their uber-crappy artbox...

Well, I checked their site, and the last news was in February...and the news before that was in in October. Nothing about the cancellation, so I sent an email requesting confirmation or denial of this information, will post it if I get a response.
