Differences in the Family Guy Airings Between FOX and AS

I didn't realize it but, two weeks ago, I learned that the AS airings of FG tend to have an extra scene or two compared to the FOX airings. This is usually due to time constraints or content objections but, because AS is on a cable network, they don't have to worry about this. I wanted to make this thread to list the extra scenes or dialogue that the AS version has compared to the FOX version.

I think there's one in Airport '07. Quagmire is shown changing Joe's diaper at one point. I didn't remember that from the FOX version.

In the version of "Breaking Out Is Hard To Do" that FOX airs, the "You're watching CBS...Asiantown" gag is absent.

I thought I'd pull them up to save everyone from the two second search.

The following scenes/lines were cut/altered for content on the FOX (and Canada's Global) version, but left intact on Cartoon Network:
  • The cutaway joke about the Asian woman's bad driving was cut on the FOX version.
  • The line after Brian complains that the jelly in his sandwich tastes funny originally had Peter say, "Yeah, it was on my penis". The FOX version has "penis" changed to "crotch".
  • When Lois comes into the bedroom dressed as Grimace, Peter says that Grimace is Ronald McDonald's "autistic" friend; the Cartoon Network version uses the original word "retarded".
  • The part where Peter has ear sex with Lois has two different scenes. The original version of the scene that aired on Cartoon Network has Lois turn the bedroom light back on only to find Peter's crotch near her head. The FOX version aired a cleaner version of that scene where the viewer only hears Lois complaining about Peter putting his penis in her ear before the lights go up and Peter ends up on the floor.

I thought those were a lot, but Barely Legal puts that to shame.

Wow, I didn't realize that FOX did that many changes to some of the episodes. I thought they showed it totally uncut.

I believe there was also a scene where Peter and Lois are drugged out on the couch. On Cartoon Network they're completely nude, but on FOX, they had undergarments drawn on them.

Censorship and changes on Family Guy since season 4 started, courtesy of Wikipedia:

Fast Times At Buddy Cianci High

In the Vol. 3 Family Guy DVD, there was a musical sequence where Brian encourages the students in the remedial class to work low-level jobs. The versions aired on TV and on the DVD have an alternate scene where the remedial students are sold on the idea of working low-level jobs, but Brian tries to talk them out of it until finally he gives in.

Don't Make Me Over

On a dare from Brian, Stewie runs naked through the mall, screaming, “Help! I’ve escaped from Kevin Spacey's basement!,” a reference to tabloid questions regarding the actor's sexuality. The original line cited Roman Polański instead of Kevin Spacey.

Petarded

On the DVD version of this episode, right after Peter tells his friend Joe Swanson that he's retarded, there is a musical number where Joe tells the entire town, via a series of phone calls, about Peter's mental retardation. According to the DVD commentary track, Seth MacFarlane states that the musical scene (which is a parody of the song "The Telephone Hour" from the musical Bye Bye Birdie) was cut from the broadcast version of the episode due to censors objecting to the song featuring just about all of Peter's friends (including Death) singing the line "Peter is Retarded!" about twenty times as part of the song's chorus. The DVD version also has a censor option, which bleeps out the part where Brian's line, "In your ****ing face, ****wad!" to Peter (which was used for the TV versions shown on FOX and Cartoon Network).

Brian The Bachelor

According to the DVD audio commentary on this episode, on the cutaway about Brooke spending the evening with Quagmire and his mother, the original name of the cat was "Pussy", but the censors found it to be too tasteless and it was changed to "Mittens" (however, they didn't object to the implication that Quagmire intended to have a threesome with his mother and the Bachelorette). Also, in the scene where Cleveland is freaking out over his audition for "The Bachelorette" and Peter strips naked (and strips Cleveland's clothes), originally Peter was supposed to be sitting on Cleveland's lap to keep Cleveland from running away, the censors found it to be too sexual.

8 Simple Rules For Buying My Teenage Daughter

On the Region 4 Volume 3 DVD release of this episode, as a deleted scene, the manga/anime series Azumanga Daioh was mentioned when Meg said that she feels like "that retarded Osakan girl". A reference to the character Ayumu Kasuga, better known as Osaka. She was called retarded possibly due to her unusual personality.

Breaking Out Is Hard To Do

FOX cut a brief gag in which the "CBS Asiantown" logo is shown as a slanted eye version of the CBS logo (this was after they showed the clip of "Three's Company: Asiantown"). Cartoon Network, Canada's Global channel, BBC3, and the DVD version all have this gag uncut.

Model Misbehavior

In one part of the episode, Stewie asks Brian to get rid of the "Life's a *****" coffee mug because the "other employees" find it offensive. Brian then asks who else works at CashScam and Stewie replies "**** you, that's who works here". The "****" is bleeped out on FOX and Adult Swim, but can be heard on the uncensored track of the DVD.

Peter's Got Woods

When James is scolding Peter for not having dinner with him, he says, "Where does James Woods fit in with the fun?" On the DVD, he says, "You ****er." after it, which is bleeped out on the original track (but can be heard if one switches audio tracks). On the TV version, the "you ****er" line is cut entirely.

One cutaway parodies Star Trek: The Next Generation and shows Captain Picard and Commander Riker joking about Lieutenant Commander Worf’s forehead. Actors Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn reprise their Star Trek roles. Picard tells Riker that "Commander Worf's head looks like a fanny". As Worf is annoyed at being mocked, Picard tells him to, "Get a sense of humor, Rocky Dennis!" in reference to the movie Mask, starring Cher, about the disfigured titular character Rocky Dennis. The character Captain Picard looks very similar to the character Avery Bullock from American Dad! (whom Patrick Stewart actually voices) the animated series also created by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. An alternate version of this scene shows Counselor Troi picking up on Picard's apparent desire to give her a "Golden Shower".

PTV

******bags, a parody of Jackass, is shown with Peter and Cleveland, where they do a segment called "I Dare You to Crap Off Of That". The ******bags segment was cut because (according to DVD commentary) the censors had a list of notes to try and keep the scene from being objectionable (i.e., Peter isn't supposed to be shown pulling down his pants, the wet, plopping sound of Peter's feces hitting the windshield can't be heard) and instead of adhering to the rules, the scene was edited out altogether.

A brief scene just after the Side-boob hour was cut. In the original aired version following the Side-boob hour Lois exclaimed "the Side-boob hour?!" before informing Peter she called the FCC. In the DVD version it is ******bags that causes her to call the FCC.

According to the DVD commentary, the part where Quagmire passes out after overhearing Peter saying, "I like eating red carpet!" originally had Quagmire holding a running hose instead of a newspaper, but the FOX Standards found it too obscene because running hose would have looked too much like a penis ejaculating when Quagmire passed out.

Also, the cutaway where Peter gets raped on his 16th birthday (in a parody of the end of the movie "Sixteen Candles") originally had Jake Ryan undoing the belt to his pants, but FOX objected.

The Courtship Of Stewie's Father

According to DVD commentary, there were more scenes in the subplot of Chris doing chores for Herbert the Pedophile to pay off the broken window, but FOX Standards rejected them due to Herbert's morally questionable character (also mentioned was that Herbert the Pedophile was originally supposed to be the school bus driver when they were first creating the character). Some of the missing scenes mentioned was a scene where Herbert offers Chris a pill he claims is Tylenol and tells Chris to lie face down on the couch and a scene where Herbert gives Chris his own work uniform, which turns out to be a leather bondage harness.

When the guard is chasing Peter and Stewie, Peter tries to distract him by saying "Look, there's a woman learning!". This might be a reference to sexist attitudes in some Islamic societies (the FOX version cut the "Look, there's a woman learning!" line, but it remains intact on Cartoon Network and the DVD version). However the man appears to be wearing a Sikh turban.

The Fat Guy Strangler

As payback for what happened in the Season 3 episode "To Love and Die in Dixie", Brian hits Peter in the head with a rock "for rolling up the damn window when I tried to jump into the General Lee" (according to the DVD commentary, Brian was supposed to throw the rock at Peter in retaliation for peeing on him [the original draft of the episode's script had the entire family flying in an airplane to visit Patrick and Peter goes to the bathroom in his seat and his urine spills on Brian, who is in a carry-on case])

At home, Lois is watching an episode of The Price is Right, where one contestant says, "**** you!" to another contestant after she bid $1 more than him in contestants row. The "**** you!" is bleeped out on both the FOX and Adult Swim versions, and on the censored audio track of the Family Guy DVD set. The uncensored track, however, has the word intact.

There is a scene cut from the TV version, but appears on the DVD where Peter and the members of the N.A.A.F.P are at the funeral of one of their members who was killed by Patrick and they sing the N.A.A.F.P anthem in his memory.

The Father, The Son, And The Holy Fonz

The FOX version of this episode cuts Stewie's line, "Nothing says, 'Eat up' like a bleeding, half-naked Jew nailed to a piece of wood" as Peter's dad is hanging a crucifix above the kitchen door. Adult Swim and the DVD version air this part uncut.

According to the DVD commentary, the Fonz statue hanging at the Church of the Fonz was supposed to be on a cross similar to how Jesus is shown on a crucifix, but FOX Standards and Practices rejected it.

A man tells his wife to imagine "a happy healthy baby boy at play. Now put him in a magic bubble and release him into the universe." When Stewie, in a bubble, rolls by, the man tells his wife to imagine Lindsay Lohan naked and doing a backwards crab walk. Later on, Lohan appears at Peter's door doing just that (in an alternate scene on the volume 4 DVD, the person at the door was the Hindu guru who tells Peter that the dot on his head was from the laser sighting on a sniper rifle).

In a deleted scene found on the DVD, Peter says to his followers, "There is no god but Fonzie, and Richie is his prophet", parodying a common Islamic phrase, "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet".

In a deleted scene on the Region 4 volume 4 DVD release, Stewie talks to Brian about the Anime series Ojamajo Doremi, thinking that it's like a kids' version of Sex and the City. This is possibly a reference to a lolicon-esque comment made about the show by Al Kahn.

Brian Sings And Swings

On the FOX version of the episode, when Mr.Berler says "Can I show you this tape of me doing my wife?" the word, "doing", is bleeped out. On Cartoon Network and the DVD version, the word is unbleeped.

A cut scene that appears in the Deleted Scenes section of the Family Guy volume 4 DVD has Brian, Stewie, and Frank Sinatra, Jr. performing for terminally ill kids at a hospital, and Brian getting drunk and asking a kid if his "blood type was pee", followed by a later scene where Brian is in the gutter and one of the terminally ill kids gets his revenge on Brian by urinating on him after gloating that he's in remission.

Patriot Games

When the episode originally aired on FOX, when Lois gives the finger at a camera, it was blurred out. When the episode was shown in reruns on Adult Swim and on DVD, the blur effect wasn't used to cover up the obscene gesture.

On the Volume 4 DVD release, a deleted scene involved Peter showing the London Silly Nannies the American version of the sitcom "The Office" and pointing out how the American version is vastly different from the British version to get them mad and prepped for the game against the New England Patriots.

I Take Thee Quagmire

On the FOX version of this episode, Cleveland's use of the word "erection" is bleeped out (both when it first came on and its recent rerun in June 2006). The Cartoon Network/Adult Swim version doesn't have it bleeped out, nor does the DVD (the commentary does mention that FOX bleeping out the word made Cleveland's statement sound dirtier than originally intended).

Chris Griffin does not appear in this episode (though there is a cut scene on the DVD in the "Deleted Scenes" section where Quagmire says that there was a time where Chris thought he was pregnant and it goes to a cutaway of Chris overreacting when Lois makes him a tuna sandwich).

When the watermelon exploded on Meg, she was originally intended to say "**** you! Kiss my ****ing ass hole to ****ing Hell!", however, according to her voice actress Mila Kunis, it was "way too obvious". However, it was seen on the Region 4 Volume 4 DVD release.

An extra scene on the extended DVD version of the episode includes Lois and Peter racing, with the loser having to undergo the operation (a vasectomy or hysterectomy, as the case may be.) When Lois is very behind in the race, she turns on the radio and Shania Twain's song "You're Still The One" is playing.

On the DVD version when Peter decides to fake Quagmire's death, he says "This will be better than that soda I invented", then goes to a cutaway of Peter pitching Crystal Pepsi and stating that it's better than regular Pepsi, in case someone comes at the drinker with a knife and the drinker can't see past the regular Pepsi.

A cutaway scene features Peter in a jail surrounded by inmates who force him to strip, squeeze his boobstogether, and sing the chorus from Kelis's 2004 hit "Milkshake". This is possibly an homage to the scene after the credits in the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story in which Ben Stiller does the same thing in his fatsuit (According to Seth MacFarlane on the DVD commentary, Peter was supposed to be nude and pushing his breasts further out, but the censors objected).

Deep Throats

Part of the sequence when Stewie and Brian walk in to see Peter and Lois reclining nude on the couch was edited on FOX. The FOX version removes Lois's "He's knocking at my back door" line and shows Lois and Peter redrawn with underwear on instead of being fully nude. The Adult Swim version airs this scene with Lois and Peter nude and Lois making the "back door" remark while stoned. The DVD version also has the scene the way it was shown on Adult Swim (but the FOX edits were mentioned in the commentary).

According to the DVD commentary, Cleveland Brown gives Brian the middle finger when Brian doesn't pick him up on his taxi. Seth MacFarlane deliberately told their broadcast standards to air that scene as a diversion from the subplot about Lois and Peter doing drugs.

A deleted scene on the DVD version of the episode shows more of Brian and Stewie driving the taxi to meet Kermit the Frog. In the scene, Cleveland tries to hail a cab again, but when he is ignored by Brian again, he throws yet another shoe at the cab, yelling, "Oh there you are, you honky son of a *****!"

Peterotica

During the montage of erotic novels written by Peter, the book after Angela's Asses in the DVD version was "Catcher in the Eye", depicting a woman in a red bra with a bullseye on one of her eyes. According to the DVD commentary, this scene was cut because the censors objected to the implied male ejaculation joke.

Another scene shown only on the DVD is Brian and Peter watching an episode of Blind Justice that immediately ends after the blind cop runs into a wall.

You May Now Kiss The...Uh...Guy Who Receives

Originally after Peter asked Jasper if showering at the Y was like Supermarket Sweep, Lois tells Peter that he's as tactless as the nerds who sat in front of them when Peter and Lois went to see "Schindler's List". The scene goes to a cutaway where a row of nerds are waiting for one of the actresses in the gas chamber scene to get naked (with the leader, chanting "We've got bush! We've got bush!"). This scene is shown in a collection of deleted scenes on the Family Guy volume 4 DVD.

Jasper's fiancé Ricardo had appeared in the episode "Brian Does Hollywood." Jasper explained in that episode that Ricardo doesn't speak a word of English, and in this episode he doesn't say a word (though in a deleted scene on the Family Guy Volume 4 DVD, he has a conversation with Stewie in Tagalog about what is going on and Stewie replies that it's his wedding, with Ricardo laughing thinking it's a joke). The cut scene also had Jasper wearing a wedding dress instead of a tuxedo, which was objected by FOX Standards and Practices.

In the collection of deleted scenes on the Family Guy Volume 4 DVD set, there is an extended version of the sequence where Lois consults a priest about her stance on gay marriage, where Lois tells the priest about how she used to have sex with women before she married Peter.

When the priest shows the video about homosexuals to Lois, it says it was made by Pat Robertson Industries; this is a reference to Pat Robertson, an American Evangelist who often spoke against Gay Rights (according to the DVD commentary, FOX Standards and Practices wanted Seth and co. to add the "Pat Robertson Industries" line so FOX wouldn't be accused of being against homosexuality).

When Chris tells Brian that gay marriage "is against the Bible", Brian responds by saying, "The Bible also says that a senior citizen built an ark to house two of every animal." It then cuts to Noah on the ark, arguing with a penguin and elephant who produced a penguin with an elephant's head. The fight ends with Noah saying he'll throw the creature "the **** overboard" (which was bleeped on the FOX, BBC and Cartoon Network airings and on the censored track of the DVD version, but not on the uncut audio track on the DVD version).

Petergeist

There's a scene that was cut for time on TV, but featured on the DVD where Peter helps Chris face his fear of the upcoming thunderstorm by having him think about ways to kill children, such as swallowing a razor blade by accident and having a mosquito bite on top of a scab.

Another scene cut for time (and, according to the DVD commentary, Standards and Practices) had Herbert the Pedophile and the tree monster climb out of the hole after the Griffin house vanishes and Herb asking the tree whether he was a "giving" tree or a "receiving" tree.

When the episode was aired in New Zealand, the scene where Peter says to Carrot Top that he "is so ****ing funny", wasn't bleeped or censored. This was the second time this season that the word "****" was not censored. The scene is also played in full in the Region 4 Season 5 DVD release.

Meg's original line to Peter when she got in the car was "You mother****er!". It was only on the New Zealand airing, it was also uncensored.

The DVD version also has an extended version of the scene where Brian grabs Peter's crotch to see if he still has the Indian skull, only to learn that Peter threw it out as the family escaped, where Peter says that what Brian is doing is more awkward than having a three-way where the woman doesn't show up (followed by a cutaway of Peter and an unnamed man waiting in bed for the woman to show up).

The New Zealand airing of this episode showed an extended version of Lois urging Stewie to exit the spirit world through Meg's ass, where Stewie compares the likelihood of that happening to the likelihood of anyone remembering the 1980 cast of Saturday Night Live, followed by a cutaway to a (rather inaccurate) depiction of the 1980 opening of SNL, showing castmembers Denny Dillon, Gail Matthius (spelled "Mathius"), Ann Ris;ey, and featured players Yvonne Hudson (the first black female feature player on SNL), and Patrick Weathers, followed by musical guest Jack Bruce and Friends (who were musical guest on an actual season six episode hosted by Ray Sharkey) and a fictional host named Scott Colomby. This scene is also shown as a deleted scene on the Family Guy volume 4 DVD set (Region 1).

Untitled Griffin Family History

In a deleted scene from the DVD, shows Hitler saying to Eva Braun that he is tired of Peter and wants him out. Peter Hitler was playing with Hitler's gun while asking why and accidentally shoots Adolf in the chest, and then kept playing with the gun and again accidentally shoots Eva Braun killing her. He then plants the gun on Eva's hand and ran away. This scene was kept when aired in New Zealand and Australia and also appears fully in the Region 1 & 4 release of Season 5.

Another deleted scene on the DVD (which was actually in the episode and cut for time on TV) showed "Black Eye" Griffin (the silent movie star) getting killed during a poker game.

When the thieves get scared of Meg, she responds with "Take me now, **** me later!", this is the chorus of Mindless Self Indulgence's song "******". It was only seen on the Region 4 Volume 4 release.

Stewie B. Goode

Stewie finishing shaving his "coin purse" and remarking that it bares an odd resemblance to Michael Chiklis. Also, the cut-away featuring an episode of The Shield with Chiklis and "Det. Scrotes" (Stewie's testicles) is gone.

When Peter is describing a porn film to the worker at Lackluster Video, the phrase "stuff comes out" is muted.

The cutaway where Ghandi performs stand-up comedy replaces the line "And black people are like 'Hey *****'..." with "And Americans are like 'Hey *****'..."

Bango Was His Name Oh!

The scene where Quagmire, still chained to the hotel bed (from when the cleaning lady left him there), turns on a porno movie so he can arouse himself to the point where he's able to use his penis to call 911.

Stu And Stewie's Excellent Adventure

Vanessa's dialogue is changed to censor uses of the word ****.

Vanessa's line about Stewie; "Screw him! That ****in' kid's from Guam!" was shortened to "That kid's from Guam!"

Lois requesting of Stewie that, on his way back to the past, he "make sure Chris never marries that ***** Vanessa" and that she never end up in a retirement home, to which Stewie replies by laughing maniacally.

Stewie blowing up Vanessa during her wedding.

Stewie Loves Lois

The Adult Swim version has additional footage of the "Mr. Nipple" scene where Peter, while half-asleep, uses his finger to probe around Stewie's nose, mistaking it for Lois's breast.

Hell Comes To Quahog

One is a scene where Brian explains why he never shops at a retail store like Wal-Mart which leads to a cutaway where Brian is shopping at K-Mart and a mentally retarded boy pets Brian so hard that Brian bites the retarded kid (an Adult Swim bumper mentioned that this scene was cut from the FOX version when this episode first aired).

A second scene after Meg states she is going to get a job, Chris offers her a job smelling his feet, then runs around the room hysterically until he soils himself. This scene was used in an Adult Swim promo for the episode.

Another scene that aired on Adult Swim (and in Canada) is where Stewie throws a can in the trash and Brian waits until Stewie leaves the room before putting it in the recycling bin. Stewie then pops his head back in the door and mocks Brian by calling Brian, "The Earth's *****".

In Canada the word "****" is left uncensored when it aired on the east coast. But it's later censored when it re-aired in Canada.

Whistle While Your Wife Works

The FOX edited version of this episode has Stewie sarcastically asking Brian if Jillian's parents are brother and sister after listening to her airheaded statements (the "brother/sister" line was also used in the FOX promos for this episode). On Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, the original line "Is she retarded?" is used.

Prick Up Your Ears

The cutaway joke about the Asian woman's bad driving was cut on the FOX version.

The line after Brian complains that the jelly in his sandwich tastes funny originally had Peter say, "Yeah, it was on my penis". The FOX version has "penis" changed to "crotch".

When Lois comes into the bedroom dressed as Grimace, Peter says that Grimace is Ronald McDonald's "autistic" friend; the Cartoon Network version uses the original word "retarded".

The part where Peter has ear sex with Lois has two different scenes.

Barely Legal

When Brian drunkenly stands up to Connie D'Amico, he states in the FOX version that Connie was insecure because she put out for guys when she was 12 years old. The Cartoon Network version uses the original version where Brian states that Connie D'Amico was insecure because she gave handjobs to guys when she was 12.

The FOX version only had one use of the word "masturbate," whereas Adult Swim had two more mentions of the word.

In the FOX version, Stewie states that Meg's pubic hair (her "carpet") and the hair on her head (her "drapes") are the same in color and length. The Adult Swim version replaces "length" with "quantity".

In the Cartoon Network version, Brian tells Lois that Meg made him eat her "hair pie" while the FOX version has the less explicit line "hair in her pie".

The Cartoon Network version has Peter mentioning the man Woody Allen brought home as a Chinaman while the FOX version uses the phrase "Oriental guy".

The Cartoon Network version has a scene after the part where Quagmire gets a cavity search where Quagmire, Peter, Mort, and Cleveland drink from a cup to test for traces of Phencyclidine (PCP). While Peter wonders which cup has the PCP, Quagmire (having drunk the liquid laced with PCP) is freaking out and ripping the skin from his arm.

The Tan Aquatic With Steve Zissou

An entire cutaway involving Stewie trying to sleep amid the erotic moans and screams of a couple having sex is cut from the FOX airing, but left in the Adult Swim airing.

When Brian squirts the lotion on a severely sunburned Stewie and Mr. Furley walks in (and thinks Brian is ejaculating on Stewie), Brian originally says, "Oh! Uh, hi, Mr. Furley. This isn't what it looks like!" before Mr. Furley says, "Never mind, I'll come back later!" and leaves. The "This isn't what it looks like" line is cut from the Fox version to make it less obvious that it is an ejaculation joke.

Airport '07

In the cutaway of the plane crash survivor beating his wife, the FOX version shows him backhanding her in 2 sets of 2. On Adult Swim, he backhands her in 2 sets of 4 instead.

An entire cutaway, which shows Quagmire's job as Joe's nurse (Quagmire had to change Joe's diaper; Joe then asked for help on committing suicide) was cut from the FOX Version, but shown on Adult Swim.

When Hugh Hefner quotes John Holmes, he says "You know, I've got a 13-inch member...". On Adult Swim, he says, "You know, I've got a 13-inch penis...".

The final scene of the Adult Swim broadcast shows everyone in Peter's living room. Peter mentions that he was raped in a federal prison after he, along with Joe and Cleveland, were thrown in a federal prison for hijacking. The FOX broadcast does not show him saying this.

I saw that PTV ******bags deleted scene on the DVD. I'm glad they took it out of TV airings; it wasn't funny at all, and the scene flows much better without it.

No way Azumanga Daioh gets any form of reference on Family Guy. There are alot of nuts out there.

It's certainly a stretch to say that's a reference to Azumanga Daioh.

I feel like another title for this list would be "Reasons Not To Buy Volume 4". I'm not saying crude humor can't be funny (see: most of South Park), but I'm not sure what they're trying to turn this show into. If it's just a showcase for the outrageous, count me out; it used to be much smarter than that.

I don't want to start a debate here because it's not the main idea of the thread, but that's just my response to seeing all this.

This whole Family Guy TV vs. AS/DVD thing reminds me of what's been happening with R2 anime lately- putting a censored version on TV, both to appease broadcast standards but also to get people to buy the uncut DVDs later on. I feel like the same thing is happening with Family Guy. And while that has some merit, because it allows you to see something extra that you wouldn't see on TV (thus you don't feel like you wasted your money), I agree- Family Guy doesn't need to resort to that kind of stuff to be funny. I recall the older episodes when they didn't need to have beeped out swearing or "shock gags purely for shock" to make me laugh.

No Freaking way!? i never heard of this before LMAO~

I'd always wondered why they changed around the Roger Moore sequence in one of the three episodes that made up the 'movie' (Stewie B. Goode I think).

Wikipedia lists it as a time cut stating:
Quote:
The scene showing "Property of Roger Moore" written on Stewie was cut. However, Roger Moore's scene was not cut, and a minor animation was added to mention him. Right before he shows up, Stewie takes a cloth he found with the initials "R.M.", and Stewie's additional line is "Although I can't help wondering who 'R.M.' is..."
But from what I remember, the scene is just as long - they just erased any mention of Roger Moore and instead alluded to it...

I doubt Family Guy had a Doremi reference.

Where's Region 4? Japan? Maybe the Japanese dubbers made their own references in place of confusing American ones....
