Well not counting those already mentionned anthropomorphic girls (plus Lexi Bunny of Loonatics) and the entire animal cast of Sonic X (including Cosmo even if she was a plant) two of my favorite animals

Spip

and

the Marsupilami (non-disney version).

Have a common origin.

Cookies to the person who tell me what is their common origin!

I'm also a good fan of Dukey from Johnny Test, he's funny.

There's more but I don't feel like going into a lengthy list.

Huh... aren't those monkeys actually ROBOTS and thus disqualifying them as animals?

Being a huge fan of Franquin's 'Spirou & Fantasio' comics I must say that Spip & the Marsupilami are my favorite non-humanized (or is that anthropomorfical?) animals. I always thought that Disney's version of the Marsupilami was an insult to Franquin's original character.

Others worthy of mentioning:

Danger Mouse, Penfold, Baron Greenback, Stilleto and Nero from 'Danger Mouse'

Bad Bird from 'Samurai Pizza Cats'

Batfink from 'Batfink' (who would've guessed?)

The Freedom Fighters (Sonic, Tails, Rotor, Bunnie, Sally and Antoine) from 'SATAM'

Professor Ratigan, Basil, Dawson, Fidget & the showgirl mouse (ok, she had a minor role but what an impression it made on me...) from 'The Great Mouse Detective'

Sam & Max from 'Sam & Max: Freelance police'

The Rescue Rangers (Chip, Dale, Gadget, Monterey Jack and Zipper). I also like Fat-Cat a bit.

Also, is it allowed to mention animals from comics in this thread? If so then how about:

Snowy aka. Milou from 'Tintin'

Eusebe, Don Lope and Armand from 'De Cape et de Crocs'

Scrooge McDuck

Donald Duck

The Gottfredsonian Mickey Mouse

Peg-leg Pete

The Phantom Blot (he is a dog (or a human with a dog nose) under the hood)

Anthracite from 'Chlorophylle'

If not then forget I mentioned these.

As for your question the only thing I can think of is that they all live in Palombia and that the females lay eggs but I'm not sure if that's the answer.

Yeah I know! Disney's Marsupilami was just horrible! The real marsupilami doesn't talk and he's 10 time smarter than Disney's! AND 1000 times braver.

You ever saw the Spirou cartoon? Marsupilami wasn't in it but Spip was, though we didn't get any of his cynical inner thoughts.

Chlorophylle! DUDE! I used to read it when I was a kid! Sweet!

Well I just meant they were both originally from the pages of Spirou's adventures ^^; even if Spip wasn't created by Franquin (neither were Spirou and Fatasio but still, he made them what they are now) .

I have two episodes of the 'Spirou' cartoon on a videotape. They were watchable but didn't come close to the comics in my opinion.

Here I thought I was the only one who had read 'Chlorophylle'. I'm glad to learn that I was mistaken.

There's four seasons of the show in all.

I will admit that the quality is pretty uneven, some episodes are good, others are boring.

What's cool is how they made Cyanure into a recurring villain (I actually like her cartoon design better than the comic one for some reason) and she makes for the best episodes in fact. The Biosphere episodes are really cool

Actually, they are real monkeys under their robotic bodies.

Spoiler:
In the episode "In the Grip of Evil", through a dream, the monkeys find out that they were created by an alchemist (He would later become the Skeleton King) who would later put them in their robotic bodies.

Also, in the episode "I, Chiro", when Antauri is going to fuse his spirit with Chiro, you can see that Antauri is an actual monkey after he breaks through his robotic body.

One of the episodes I have feature Cyanure. I had no idea that she was a recurring villain, though.

Was there any episode that featured the classic villains like Zorglub or Zantafio?

Finally, to get this topic back on it's original track I'd like to mention another one of my favorite cartoon animals:

Feathers McGraw from 'Wrong Trouser's ('Wallace & Gromit'). That was one evil penguin.

Yeah sure was an evil penguin XD

Sadly no Zorglub... I don't think they had Zantafio either :/ Zorglub wasn't from the era they were adapting and Zantafio's origin were WAY too long ago ^^; but at least said Zantafio is back in the comics. Vito Cortisone was another recurring villain.

Vito Cortizone (I'm pretty sure it spelled with a 'z' but it doesn't matter)? That was the unlucky mafia- godfather introduced by Tome & Janry right?

I can understand why they didn't use Zorglub as a villain since he reformed after his second appearance but Zantafio? He has appeared as a foe several times after Franquin quit 'Spirou' so I don't see why they couldn't have used him.

By the way, another of my favorite cartoon animals that I forgot to mention in my original post is Magica DeSpell who I think is my favorite female Disney character.
